Drawing on a decade of research into the community that proposed the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque," this book refutes the idea that current demands for Muslim moderation have primarily arisen in response to the events of 9/11, or to the violence often depicted in the media as unique to Muslims. Instead, it looks at a century of pressures on religious minorities to conform to dominant American frameworks for race, gender, and political economy. These include the encouraging of community groups to provide social services to the dispossessed in compensation for the government's lack of welfare provisions in an aggressively capitalist environment. Calls for Muslim moderation in particular are also colored by racist and orientalist stereotypes about the inherent pacifism of Sufis with respect to other groups. The first investigation of the assumptions behind moderate Islam in our country, Making Moderate Islam is also the first to look closely at the history, lives, and ambitions of the those involved in Manhattan's contested project for an Islamic community center.

This work is based on the religion of Islam and the fundamental Muslims who live by Islamic Sharia law and associate themselves with Sunni Islam, or the Shia philosophy of the 6th imam. Islam's Mandate separates 80 % of the Muslim ummah (family) who live in Third World countries who cannot read or write from the radical world of Islam, as well as others who continue to associate themselves with the Muslim family, but have strayed from the teachings of Muhammad and are less than Islam's Muslim in their way of life. In the book, the author deals with 1500 year old beliefs of the fundamentalist, Islams true Muslim. The questions asked and answered are, what is the true nature of Islam, and who are the real Islam Muslims in the mosques who stay hidden behind closed doors. Those who must defend against radical Islam must take them time to understand the Jihadist. It is time America pulls its head out of Muslim sand that is soaked with blood from 1500 years of Islamic aggression, and deals with the reality of what was once an oppressed tribal cult in the Arabian Desert, but is now a dominating, brutal, and repressive theocracy spreading to every corner of this planet.

Devout Muslim, Raheel Raza, gained international attention by appearing on the O'Rielly Factor in protest of the Ground Zero mosque. As a Pakistan-born Canadian Muslim she seems to break all conventions. Though a self-labeled feminist and progressive, Americans might call her a "conservative" for her general disdain for political correctness. Raheel has no illusions about the current problems of the Muslim world. With common decency and the Qur'an as her guide, she shows how Islam can be a religion of peace.

An American imam offers answers for today's toughest questions about Islam, and a vision for a reconciliation between Islam and the West. One of the pressing questions of our time is what went wrong in the relationship between Muslims and the West. Continuing global violence in the name of Islam reflects the deepest fears by certain Muslim factions of Western political, cultural, and economic encroachment. The solution to the current antagonism requires finding common ground upon which to build mutual respect and understanding. Who better to offer such an analysis than an American imam, someone with a foot in each world and the tools to examine the common roots of both Western and Muslim cultures; someone to explain to the non-Islamic West not just what went wrong with Islam, but what's right with Islam. Focused on finding solutions, not on determining fault, this is ultimately a hopeful, inspiring book. What's Right with Islam systematically lays out the reasons for the current dissonance between these cultures and offers a foundation and plan for improved relations. Wide-ranging in scope, What's Right with Islam elaborates in satisfying detail a vision for a Muslim world that can eventually embrace its own distinctive forms of democracy and capitalism, aspiring to a new Cordoba - a time when Jews, Christians, Muslims, and all other faith traditions will live together in peace and prosperity.

The Place Of The Mosque written by Akel Isma'il Kahera and has been published by Rowman & Littlefield this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-06-14 with Philosophy categories.

The Place of the Mosque: Genealogies of Space, Knowledge, and Power extends Foucault’s analysis, Of Other Spaces, and the “ideological conflicts which underlie the controversies of our day [and] take place between pious descendants of time and tenacious inhabitants of space.” This book uses Foucault’s framework to illuminate how mosques have been threatened in the past, from the Cordóba Mosque in the eighth century, to the development of Moorish aesthetics in the United States in the nineteenth century, to the clashes surrounding the building of mosques in the West in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Akel Kahera uses Foucault’s genealogy to elaborate on and study the subjects that are caught in the emergence of a battle—the social and political will to power, the networks of power, and the rituals of power—within the interstitial space. In going beyond individual buildings to broader geographical and genealogical dimensions of the power struggles, The Place of the Mosque reconciles the public space experience, governmentality, and micro powers, paving the way for a new philosophical language. Expanding architectural and urban regional approaches, Kahera shows the biopolitical significance of the problem of space.
