Der hier anzuzeigende zweibändige”Grundkurs Ethik“antwortet auf dieses Bedürfnis. Die Beiträge setzen keine Fachkenntnisse voraus und verdeutlichen ihre Darstellung durch zahlreiche Beispiele. Sie enthalten kommentierte Hinweise auf weiterführende Literatur und ermöglichen es dem Leser, die gewonnenen Einsichten anhand von Kontrollfragen zu überprüfen. Im ersten Band geht es um die Grundlagen der Ethik. Er führt zunächst in die wichtigsten Theoriefamilien ein (Tugendethik, Kontraktualismus, deontologische und konsequentialistische Ethik). In einem zweiten Teil werden die Grundlagen der Metaethik, des ethischen Argumentierens und der Analyse von ethischen Dilemmata erläutert. Der dritte Teil befaßt sich mit der Rolle der Ethik in der modernen Gesellschaft (Aufgaben von Ethikkomissionen, Was ist angewandte Ethik?). Den Abschluß des Bandes bildet eine Sammlung von didaktisch nützlichen Materialien, die sowohl im Unterricht als auch im Selbststudium eingesetzt werden können.

Successful public order management is critical to upholding democracy and maintaining the rule of law.
