A obra apresentada pelo autor resgata a importância da Guarda Municipal em nosso país, cuja existência remonta a 1531, no Governo Geral de Martim Afonso de Souza, até a sua extinção, ocorrida em 1937. Dos homens que serviram nas fileiras da Guarda Municipal, destaca-se o comandante do Corpo de Guardas Municipais Permanentes da Corte, o Major Luiz Alves de Lima e Silva, Duque de Caxias, como também a bravura de vários homens que morreram na defesa da pátria quando da Guerra do Paraguai. Com a promulgação da nova carta constitucional, em 1988, os municípios voltaram a ter o poder de criar as suas Guardas Municipais, e em Curitiba, por meio da Lei 7356/89, foi recriada a sua Guarda Municipal, com o lema “Pro lege semper vigilans”. Para que alguma coisa se perpetue na história, faz-se necessário o seu resgate, guardar a sua origem, preservar o seu passado, para que todos saibam de onde veio, como veio e para que veio. O autor, membro integrante e atuante da referida Guarda Municipal, com grande senso de visão apresenta o resumo histórico e principalmente a evolução da Guarda Municipal de Curitiba, bem como distingue, pelas atribuições, as competências da polícia civil e da polícia militar, que possuem peculiaridades próprias. O curriculum do autor, apresentado com a sua obra, mostra que após galgar posições dentro dos quadros da Guarda Municipal, exerce atualmente a de Inspetor, mostrando ser pessoa não acostumada a permanecer impassível às dificuldades e, preocupado com a cultura e a formação de seus comandados, participou de vários cursos, congressos e seminários, somando ainda à grande qualidade de ser um formador de opinião, como docente. Pelo seu histórico, o autor passou a integrar os quadros da Guarda Municipal após a Constituição de 1988, conquistando sua ascensão promocional. É um lutador que vem vencendo todos os níveis de sua carreira, sabendo valorizar as conquistas realizadas, tendo uma visão plena das necessidades e dificuldades dessa nova instituição, sem se distanciar do lado humano. “O que você precisa saber sobre a Guarda Municipal e nunca teve a quem perguntar” se constitui numa resposta às perguntas e anseios da população, oferecida por alguém que vive plenamente a sua profissão e está preocupado em esclarecer a comunidade. Sinto-me orgulhoso em apresentar o autor à comunidade e honrado em haver participado, modestamente, de sua formação acadêmica, como professor. É na qualidade de professor/instrutor que o autor passará seu conhecimento aos demais comandados, resgatando o verdadeiro sentido de cidadania. Parabenizo pela iniciativa de apresentar à população o histórico da Guarda Municipal, o que é, qual sua finalidade e atribuições, em linguajar simples, de fácil entendimento, mostrando aos cidadãos paranaenses que esta instituição vem sendo modelo para outros Estados da Federação.

In Reclaiming the Discarded Kathleen M. Millar offers an evocative ethnography of Jardim Gramacho, a sprawling garbage dump on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, where roughly two thousand self-employed workers known as catadores collect recyclable materials. While the figure of the scavenger sifting through garbage seems iconic of wageless life today, Millar shows how the work of reclaiming recyclables is more than a survival strategy or an informal labor practice. Rather, the stories of catadores show how this work is inseparable from conceptions of the good life and from human struggles to realize these visions within precarious conditions of urban poverty. By approaching the work of catadores as highly generative, Millar calls into question the category of informality, common conceptions of garbage, and the continued normativity of wage labor. In so doing, she illuminates how waste lies at the heart of relations of inequality and projects of social transformation.

The current publication, entitled Folksonomies, sets out the contents of a selection of works I have done lately and it recounts its exhibit walkthrough, organized on the basis of two individual projects which run parallel throughout 2016. One of them relates to the works arising from my interest in Big Data and which is composed of different accounts with works in painting, mural installation and drawing. It is the project I have called Sombras_Big_Dat@. The second Project is about my activity around engraving, silk screen printing and digital printing which I have named 32 bits_memoria_grafica. The book is thus structured in two parts, starting with the Sombras_Big_Dat@ project and specifically, its showing at the Salamanca Museum, as I have shown here the set of works which comprise the project in the best conditions of space and illumination, which afforded us to collect some interesting photographic scenes on site and views of works which render quite an accurate idea of the jobs I have done. The second part of this publication documents the exhibition called 32_bits_memoria_grafica, with works in engraving and printed work. Throughout my career, creating projects with these means has been and still is crucial: not only does it complement the creative activity I do with other disciplines, but it also provides me with other channels for my thoughts and presentation of ideas. The council of the Arts Engraving Museum chose my project and I was offered a chance to show a walkthrough of several years of activity which I structured on the basis of eight thematic axes: Energies, Presences, Dialogs, Silences, Places and territories, Echos and appearances, Human schemes and Dream landscapes, around which 32 works spin, executed with chalcographic engraving, digital printing and silk screen printing. The set of works grouped in such fashion composed a remarkable atmosphere which contributed to the understanding and tuning in with the works and their crossed meanings.
