It is very difficult to briefly summarize Avi Sion’s philosophy, because it is so wide-ranging. He has labeled it ‘Logical Philosophy’, because it is firmly grounded in formal logic, inductive as well as deductive. This original philosophy is dedicated to demonstrating the efficacy of human reason by detailing its actual means; and to show that the skepticism which has been increasingly fashionable and destructive since the Enlightenment was (contrary to appearances) quite illogical – the product of ignorant, incompetent and dishonest thinking. This guide contains a list of his 27 published books, showing their chronology and interrelationships. This is followed by a collection of the abstracts of these books, summarizing their main contents. Also found here are links to all websites, where his books can be freely read. Hopefully, this guide will make it easier for readers to find what interests them the most, in view of the sheer volume of it all.

Edited by world renown experts with contributions by a global cohort of authors, Auditory-Verbal Therapy: Science, Research, and Practice is highly relevant to today’s community of practitioners of Auditory-Verbal Therapy (LSLS Cert. AVT), and to those who are working towards LSLS Cert. AVT certification. The book is divided into five parts: Part I: Overview of Auditory-Verbal Therapy: Foundations and Fundamentals This section covers the philosophy, history, and principles of AVT, including outcome data, results of a new survey of LSLS Cert. AVT community on global practice patterns in AVT, information on auditory brain development, and evaluation of evidence-based and evidence-informed practice for the new decade. Part II: Audiology, Hearing Technologies, and Speech Acoustics, and Auditory-Verbal Therapy This section covers audiology and AVT, hearing aids, implantable and hearing assistive devices, and in-depth speech acoustics for AVT. Part III: Developmental Domains in Auditory-Verbal Therapy This section covers the development of listening, three-dimensional conversations, speech, play, cognition, and literacy, as applied to AVT. Part IV: The Practice of Auditory-Verbal Therapy Here strategies for developing listening, talking, and thinking in AVT are covered, including parent coaching, the AVT Session: planning, delivery and evaluation, music and singing, assessment, and inclusion of “AVT children” in the regular preschool. Part V: Extending and Expanding the Practice of Auditory-Verbal Therapy The final section includes information on children with complex hearing issues, children with additional challenges, multilingualism, children and families experiencing adversity, tele-practice, coaching and mentoring practitioners, and cost-benefit of AVT.

Which Bible passages are for Christians today and which relate only to ancient readers? Can I simply pick and choose for myself the verses I think best fit my situation? Who gets to decide? Is there a different meaning for each individual reader? What am I supposed to know to read the Bible well? Ray Lubeck has devoted his life to helping others discern for themselves God’s truth in the Scriptures and to showing them how it relates to their everyday lives. Reading the Bible for a Change will guide you in how to: •Read each biblical passage in light of its literary style and larger context •Ask and explore the most fruitful questions for understanding the meaning of a passage •Avoid common interpretive mistakes •Hear God, the divine Author, speak through the Bible’s human authors •Identify the life-changing truths of Scripture that apply to life today •Move beyond merely reading the Bible to being shaped by and following it Having taught for over three decades at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as in many ministry contexts, Ray values the importance of holding the interest of students of the Bible. This book is written in an accessible and engaging style, using illustrations, charts, stories, and relevant examples to help the reader grasp key concepts. The second edition has been extensively revised in light of recent scholarly developments and years of use within the classroom, incorporating substantial amounts of updates and new material. Reading the Bible for a Change will equip you with the tools to discover for yourself the life-changing truths revealed in God’s word. If you begin practicing these steps, you will embark on a lifetime journey of Scripture reading that will enable you to see for yourself how captivating and transforming it is when we read the Bible on its own terms rather than on ours.
