Weapons Of The Great War written by Valdimir Glazkov and has been published by MMP this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-08-26 with Military weapons categories.

Book tells the readers about machine guns, automatic rifles, handguns and revolvers, including both the official weapon models in service in the Russian Army in 1914-1917 and weapons not officially approved as weapons in service but nevertheless used by the troops such as obsolete Russian and non-Russian arms both supplied by the allies or captured from the enemies. A special highlight of this book is the part describing the experimental automatic weapons, without which the reader would hardly get the big picture of the state of the Russian defense engineering developments in the early 20th century. For each model described in the book, there is a brief history of how it was designed and started to be used as an approved army weapon, also with the description of the key modifications made to it throughout the period of its manufacturing for further use as in-service weapon. The book contains a detailed and meticulous description of the field use, strengths and weaknesses of the weapon seen through the eyes of the soldiers. It is the first book written by a Russian weapons history researcher providing a detailed description of machine gun system parts such as mounts, carriers and pack equipment. This book also contains unique information on flare guns and special accessories. Book contains detailed color photos of the guns preserved in different Russian museums.

A considerable proportion of the weapons collected by the Tsars and nobility of Russia over the centuries consists of Dutch firearms of the 17th and 18th centuries. Many of them evince not only an advanced technique, but also exceptionally beautiful decoration. This catalogue offers the first scientific treatment and classification of almost 320 of these Dutch firearms of the 17th and 18th centuries in the collections of the Moscow Kremlin Armoury, the Moscow Historical Museum, the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersberg and the Gatchina Palace Museum near St. Petersburg. That Dutch firearms in particular are so well represented in Russian collections illustrates the strong political and economical relations of Russia and the Dutch Republic in this period. They were collected from different sources, mainly as a result of the large-scale trade in military firearms between the Dutch Republic and the Tsars of Russia and from ambassadorial and merchant's gifts. The result of this important and heretofore neglected part of the Dutch history is now available for scholars as well as to the general public. --From dust jacket.

The Russian word that is most frequently spoken throughout the world isn't Lenin, gulag or perestroika, it’s ‘Kalashnikov’. The reason for this is simple: there are 80 million Kalashnikovs in circulation on five continents. Once invented, the AK-47 assault rifle became the most widely used weapon in the world: from Vietnam to Palestine, from Cuba to Iraq, it was at the heart of conflicts and struggles everywhere. It is the only firearm that has ever been depicted on a national flag – that of Mozambique, where it symbolizes liberation. Mikhail Kalashnikov himself, who was born in 1919, here tells his life story, with the help of Elena Joly, for the first time: his deportation to Siberia with his family while still a child; his time as a soldier in a tank regiment; his invention of the world’s most famous weapon and his turbulent life under Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Gorbachev and Yeltsin. This is a remarkable portrait of a man of ingenuity and vitality in the context of the often frightening and terribly unforgiving Russia of the twentieth century.

Guns For The Tsar written by Joseph Bradley and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-06-07 with categories.

This is a detailed study of the development of the Russian small arms industry. Humiliated in the Crimean War, Russia turned to the United States for help. Using archival sources, Bradley, author of Muzhik and Muscovite: Urbanization in Late Imperial Russia (Univ. of California Pr., 1985), describes the role of famous gunsmiths like Colt, Smith, and Wesson; they provided Russia with machinery, tools, production techniques, and even workers to build an independent arms industry. Assimilation was only partially successful; an inflexible economy hindered military modernization. A 30-page bibliography and 40 pages of footnotes testify to Bradley's meticulous research and academic style. Recommended for specialists.

With the collapse of the USSR, fifteen fledgling sates inherited a massive Soviet arsenal, unstable political systems, and desperate economies. A "sell everything" mentality threatens to result in the largest arms bazaar in human history, and this potential "fire sale" includes weapons of mass destruction. This book addresses the challenges the new independent states (NIS) of the former Soviet Union (FSU) face in controlling and monitoring their sensitive, military-related exports.Dangerous Weapons, Desperate States explores the various theoretical approaches that help explain the development of nonproliferation export control systems in the NIS. The contributors, coming from both the FSU states and the US, provide a broad range of perspectives on the problems posed by the threat of proliferation.
