Development of tribes and their areas are today a major concern of the Government. Various articles of the Indian Constitution provide specific provisions for the advancement of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. The close relationship between Chine and Manipur has been shown to be established by way fo cultural similarities and exchange viz. sericulture etc. Various myths and theories have been discussed to find out the origin of the ancestors of the Meiteis. Monogoloid origin of the Manipuris has been emphasised.
