Routledge International Handbook Of Investigative Interviewing And Interrogation written by Dave Walsh and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-08-09 with Law categories.

This handbook provides readers with coverage of the various interview and interrogation techniques used across the world with victims, witnesses, and suspected offenders. It includes exclusive coverage on countries rarely, if ever, previously reported upon in the literature to any substantive depth. Bringing together a collection of chapters from over 40 countries, this handbook advises and explains the practices used in crime interviewing and informs the reader of contemporary developments hitherto unreported in any current book on interviewing and interrogation. In doing so, the Routledge International Handbook of Investigative Interviewing and Interrogation showcases global exemplars of evidence-based practice informed by scientific research. Building on recent research, including protocols developed in a variety of countries, this book is particularly timely in the wake of the "Méndez Principles", a set of principles developed by the UN (i) to counter the ill-treatment of suspects during police questioning and (ii) to gather more reliable information. This handbook will be an essential reference text across criminology, criminal justice, policing and investigation studies, and law.

Vulnerable Victimizations written by Phil Mulvey and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-06 with Social Science categories.

This edited volume showcases research on vulnerable victimizations, or more specifically, on individuals and/or populations that, due to their status, have less power in society, are socially controlled in unique ways in the criminal–legal system, or are members of marginalized groups with specialized considerations surrounding their victimization experiences, such as LGBTQIA+ individuals, immigrants, incarcerated persons, children, and females. The scholarship focuses on the overall victimization experience, and at the same time is also centered on the victimization experiences of historically ignored and/or marginalized groups. Victimization of vulnerable individuals in the United States is increasing at a moment when marginalized groups continue to confront legislative and policy reforms that would undermine their liberty. It is as important now, as it has ever been, for the field of victimology to consider those who historically may not have the loudest (or any) voice to spotlight and investigate their experiences. Vulnerable Victimizations will be a key resource for academics, researchers, and advanced students of Victimology, Criminology and Criminal Justice. The chapters included in this book were originally published in Victims & Offenders.

Evidence pertaining to continual violence throughout the life cycle coupled with the experience of growing old in a life permeated by intimate violence is scarce. And the focus is usually on the victims ─ usually, the older, battered women ─ and seldom on their aging partners or adult children who were part and parcel of the violent dynamics in the family system. With the increase in longevity and the older population’s subsequent growth in size, the number of elderly couples living and aging in long-lasting conflictive relationships is on the rise. The relatively intense preoccupation with elder abuse in the gerontological literature in recent years has not specifically addressed long-term intimate violence among the old adults and its lasting consequences. Similarly, the literature on intimate intergenerational relationships in old age has usually focused on normative exchanges between partners and their extended family, including their adult children. Therefore, conflictive relationships, and particularly violent ones, have also fallen outside the scope of this body of research. This volume describes and analyzes the various perspectives of family members concerning life, and particularly old age, in the shadow of long-term intimate violence. It explores how people make sense out of living and aging in violence, how interpersonal, familial and cross-generational relationships are perceived and reconstructed and how “we-ness” is achieved, if at all, in such families.
