This book is translated from Hungarian. It was originally published as the sixth volume of the "Building the Future in Water Resources Management" series of the Water Science Council of the Hungarian Water Resources Management Directorate. It presents the water resources management of the last 50 plus years as seen, experienced, co-shaped and narrated by Janos Bogardi, a research professor of the Ludovika University of Public Service in Budapest. The author is simultaneously co-opted professor at the University of Bonn and distinguished adjunct professor of the Asian Institute of Technology, Pathumthani, Thailand. Born into a water resources engineering family and growing up in Budapest close to the Danube river pre-determined his professional orientation. He describes with light irony, and without the usual memoir style, his search for a fulfilling professional life. He discusses his engagement with the inter-university cooperation helping the transition of Central European universities earning him numerous academic recognitions. Dr. Bogardi’s career culminated with assignments as science diplomat and manager, working at UNESCO with local scientists in Central Asia, Russia and in Africa. He served as founding director of the UNU Institute for Environment and Human Security. The book concludes with reminiscences to those whose influence and collaboration shaped Dr. Bogardi’s career.

Integrated Management Of Water Resources In India A Computational Approach written by Akhilesh Kumar Yadav and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-07-02 with Science categories.
This book tackles the complexities of water management in India. Using computational tools, it provides comprehensive information on water availability, demand, climate change, integrated management, and governance. A must-read for researchers, policymakers, and water managers. The book is structured to provide a holistic understanding of water resources in India and the need for an integrated approach to their management. It explores various aspects of water management, including data collection and analysis, water allocation and planning, water quality management, and the intricate interdependencies within the water-energy-food nexus. One of the key focuses of this book is the application of computational approaches in the management of water resources. We explore the use of advanced modeling, simulation, and optimization techniques to facilitate decision making, assess water availability, and predict future scenarios. By employing computational tools, our goal is to bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical implementation, empowering water managers, policymakers, researchers, and other stakeholders to make informed and effective decisions. Throughout the book, we present case studies highlighting the application of computational approaches in diverse water management scenarios in India. These case studies offer valuable information on real-world challenges and demonstrate the potential of computational techniques to address complex water resources problems. We also explore the importance of stakeholder engagement, participatory approaches, and collaborative governance models, recognizing the importance of inclusive decision-making processes and local knowledge in achieving sustainable water management. The book is expected to serve as a valuable resource for students, researchers, professionals, and policymakers involved in water resource management in India. We aim to contribute to the ongoing efforts to ensure the availability of clean and adequate water resources for present and future generations.

This new handbook brings together various views and experiences of the impacts of flooding and its management in Africa, Asia and Latin America by drawing from traditional and modern approaches adopted by communities, homeowners, academics, project managers, institutions and policy makers. Key stakeholders provide insights and perspectives on flood hazards, flood impacts, flood control and adaptation strategies across these regions. The inclusion of policy makers, emergency responders, leaders of key organizations and managers of flood defence projects makes this volume a unique addition to the flood management literature. The chapters are organized to reveal various impacts and challenges associated with the management of flooding, including response and recovery. The chapter contributions bring together the different impacts of flooding and propose various mitigation approaches. They describe procedures for managing flooding and reducing the impacts from the perspectives of policy makers, environmental planners and restorers of flood-affected communities. Also, the book considers some of the related aspects including land use, waste management, drainage systems, security challenges, urban planning and development and their contributions to flooding. The book's primary target is experienced researchers and practitioners in flood risk management. It would also serve as a key text for postgraduate students studying related programmes. Inhabitants of flood prone communities in such developing countries will also find the text an important resource for guidance and understanding. This multi-disciplinary book represents a valuable contribution for a wide range of professionals (e.g. in engineering, built environment, health, retail, etc) who are interested in flood control and management and/or faced with flood-related challenges in the course of their work.

Knowledge Transformation And Innovation In Global Society written by Hoa Van Thi Tran and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-02-27 with Business & Economics categories.
This is the first book to fully explain the changing management and business models in the current era of important new developments in knowledge and information occurring all over the world. The research and its outcomes presented here focus especially on diverse cases from emerging countries in East Asia, where local companies face similar technological change. The pandemic has seriously changed people's lives and affected the development of society as a whole, while digital technologies have become even more greatly in demand. Those are very difficult to fit into traditional management models created decades ago, however. For the successful implementation of such a transition, new paradigms, models, and technologies for the transformation of control systems are needed. To meet that need, a new paradigm to bring about innovation under the new knowledge transformation system is required. This book presents the experiences of beginning such a knowledge transformation inEast Asian countries. Despite the fact that the countries are in the same geographical region, their experiences are quite diverse, determined by cultural, historical, religious, and psychological factors. These differences appear not only in such important areas as R&D processes, but also in production, finance, HR management, and marketing. Readers will find innovative solutions for the transformation of management in the new knowledge transformation system that is the focus of this book.
