This book is the first epoch-spanning study on Jewish participation in the Italian women’s movement, focussing in a transnational perspective on the experience of Italian-Jewish protagonists in Liberal Italy, during the First World War and the Fascist dictatorship until 1945. Drawing on ego-documents, contemporary journals and Jewish community archives, as well as records by the police and public authorities, it examines the tensions within the emancipation process between participation and exclusion. The book argues that the racial laws from 1938 did not represent the sudden end of an idyllic integration, but rather the climax of a long-term development. Social marginalization, the persecution of Jewish rights, and the assault on Jewish lives during fascism are analysed distinctly from the perspective of Jewish women. In spite of their significant influence on the transnational orientation of the Italian women’s movement, their emancipation as women and Jews remained incomplete.

The internet is developing more extensively in China than any other country in the world. Chinese Cyberspaces provides multidisciplinary perspectives on recent developments and the consequences of internet expansion in China. Including first-hand research and case studies, the contributors examine the social, political, cultural and economic impact of the internet in China. The book investigates the political implications of China's internet development as well as the effect on China’s information policy and overall political stability. The contributors show how although the digital divide has developed along typical lines of gender, urban versus rural, and income, it has also been greatly influenced by the Communist Party’s attempts to exert efficient control. This topical and interesting text gives a compelling overview of the current situation regarding the Chinese internet development in China, while clearly signalling potential future trends.

This third edition of Pediatric Urogenital Radiology has been thoroughly updated to take account of the recent advances in the imaging and treatment of pediatric nephro-urologic disorders that have been achieved over the past years. A number of new chapters have been included on topics such as the role of ultrasound and MRI for urogenital imaging in the fetus and the use of contrast media in childhood. Other chapters have been extensively revised or rewritten, while information that continues to be pertinent has been retained. The book describes in detail all aspects of pediatric urogenital radiology. It is written primarily from the point of view of the radiologist, but also includes essential clinical information from and for the pediatrician, pediatric surgeon, and urologist. It is specifically designed to aid the clinician in making decisions on imaging management, and to help the radiologist to understand the clinical background and needs. The newest techniques and the changing relevance of imaging and interventional procedures are described, and the diverse problems associated with the changing anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology from the newborn period to adulthood are explained. The whole spectrum of imaging features of agenesis, anomalies and malformations, dysplasia, parenchymal and cystic diseases, urolithiasis, neoplastic diseases, renal vascular hypertension, renal failure, renal transplantation, pre-and postoperative imaging, and genitourinary trauma is covered. Individual chapters are devoted to vesicoureteric reflux, urinary tract infection, congenital urinary tract dilatation, upper urinary tract dilatation, voiding dysfunction, and neurogenic bladder. A chapter on the clinical management of common nephrourologic disorders explains how imaging is embedded in the whole process of clinical management. Short conclusions are included at the end of chapters and sections to highlight the key information.

The explosion of information in neurogenetics and metabolism mandates increasing awareness of appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic strategies in the setting of certain epilepsies, especially those of very early onset. There are over 200 inherited disorders that are associated with seizures and prompt identification and intervention is crucial for a positive outcome. This text brings together leading authorities presenting state-of-the-art clinical reviews covering the science, recognition, and treatment of the inherited metabolic epilepsies and related disorders. Inherited Metabolic Epilepsies opens with a section on general principles for diagnosis and targeted intervention including screening protocols, laboratory testing, neuroimaging, seizure patterns and EEG findings, new technologies, and the ketogenic diet in metabolic epilepsies. The next two sections are devoted to the cohort of specific small molecule disorders (aminoacidopathies, organic acidopathies, mitochondrial disorders, urea cycle disorders, neurotransmitter disorders, and glucose-related disorders) and large molecule disorders (lysomal storage disorders, peroxisomal diseases, glycosylation defects, and leukodystrophies) that are treatable yet can be so vexing to clinicians and investigators. The book concludes with a clinical algorithm designed to be a resource for the physician in search of direction when considering an inherited metabolic disorder as the explanation for a patient with epilepsy. Inherited Metabolic Epilepsies Key Features: Presents the latest scientific thinking and clinical wisdom for a poorly understood group of disorders that have devastating consequences if unrecognized or not promptly treated Expert authorship from both the genetic-metabolic and epilepsy communities provides state-of-the-art guidance for understanding and managing these disorders A readable text for clinicians highlighting the relation between metabolic errors and epilepsy Concludes with a practical algorithm for evaluating a patient with a possible metabolic epilepsy

Health Care Transition written by Albert C. Hergenroeder and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-05-03 with Medical categories.

This comprehensive book thoroughly addresses all aspects of health care transition of adolescents and young adults with chronic illness or disability; and includes the framework, tools and case-based examples needed to develop and evaluate a Health Care Transition (HCT) planning program that can be implemented regardless of a patient’s disease or disability. Health Care Transition: Building a Program for Adolescents and Young Adults with Chronic Illness and Disability is a uniquely inclusive resource, incorporating youth/young adult, caregiver, and pediatric and adult provider voices and perspectives. Part I of the book opens by defining Health Care Transition, describing the urgent need for comprehensive transition planning, barriers to HCT and then offering a framework for developing and evaluating health care transition programs. Part II focuses on the anatomic and neuro-chemical changes that occur in the brain during adolescence and young adulthood, and how they affect function and behavior. Part III covers the perspectives of important participants in the HCT transition process – youth and young adults, caregivers, and both pediatric and adult providers. Each chapter in Part IV addresses a unique aspect of developing HCT programs. Part V explores various examples of successful transition from the perspective of five key participants in the transition process - patients, caregivers, pediatric providers, adult providers and third party payers. Related financial matters are covered in part VI, while Part VII explores special issues such as HCT and the medical home, international perspectives, and potential legal issues. Models of HCT programs are presented in Part VIII, utilizing an example case study. Representing perspectives from over 75 authors and more than 100 medical centers in North America and Europe, Health Care Transition: Building a Program for Adolescents and Young Adults with Chronic Illness and Disability is an ideal resource for any clinician, policy maker, caregiver, or hospitalist working with youth in transition.
