Elisabeth Furch hat die Auseinandersetzung mit den Phänomenen Migration und Mehrsprachigkeit an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Wien maßgeblich mitgestaltet und entscheidend geprägt. Im Zentrum ihres Wirkens in Forschung und Lehre stand stets das Bemühen um die Förderung eines kritisch-reflexiven, professionellen und produktiven Umgangs mit diesen Phänomenen. Mit dem Bereich der Menschenrechtsbildung übernahm Elisabeth Furch als Leiterin der von ihr 2011 gegründeten Kompetenzstelle für Mehrsprachigkeit und Migration am Institut für übergreifende Bildungsschwerpunkte (IBS) an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Wien 2018 einen weiteren Aufgabenschwerpunkt. Über Dekaden hinweg war die berufliche Tätigkeit Elisabeth Furchs darauf hin ausgerichtet, impulsgebende und bedarfsorientierte Bildungsangebote für Pädagog/innen in Erstaus-, Fort- und Weiterbildung bereitzustellen und eine diversitätsfokussierte Potenzialbildung in der Lehrer/innenbildung zu unterstützen. Elisabeth Furchs 65. Geburtstag ist der Anlass, im Rahmen der vorliegenden Publikation das weite Feld ihres beruflichen Wirkens anhand von Textbeiträgen zahlreicher Wegbegleiter/innen zu veranschaulichen und angemessen zu würdigen.

Schulpraktisches Mentoring findet in Österreich in den Curricula der neuen Lehrer/innenaus-bildung mit der Implementierung der Pädagogisch-Praktischen Studien eine strukturelle Ver-ankerung. Partnerschulen der Pädagogischen Hochschulen und Universitäten bieten mit ihren Lern- und Erfahrungsräumen Studierenden die Möglichkeit, die normativ-curricularen schuli-schen Anteile im Sozialisationsfeld Schule zu absolvieren. Mentor/innen begleiten und unter-stützen im Professionalisierungsprozess und treten vor dem Hintergrund normativ-curricularer Anforderungsstrukturen sowie subjektiver Deutungsmuster, Ermöglichungs- und Erwartungs-haltungen im Regelfall in eine wechselseitige Lern- und Entwicklungsbeziehung ein. Transfor-mationales Mentoring mit einer kategorialen Aufschlüsselung zur Anleitung von Selbstrefle-xion wird als eine mögliche Form des Mentorings vorgestellt und diskutiert.Im Forschungsansatz wurden Interviews mit Mentor/innen und Studierenden geführt und mit Grounded Theory ausgewertet. Zentrales Ergebnis der Studie ist, dass die Beteiligten in der dyadischen Beziehung einen professionsspezifischen Lern- und Entwicklungsprozess mit dem Ziel der Selbstwirksamkeits- und Professionsentwicklung aufbauen bzw. eingehen wollen. Dar-aus ableitend wurden (Ausbildungs-)Modelle für Mentoring-Programme konstruiert.

Human beings come equipped with a tendency to generally not want to leave thinking to others. With the endeavor to professionally, reflectively, and gracefully support each individual on the basis of this tendency, the paradigm of a curious, self-determined, and inquiring human is developed in this volume, which might point the way towards a promising future. In view of such a perspective, the authors regard the pedagogical construct of self-determined Inquiry Learning as just such a promising concept. The Theory of Inquiry Learning Arrangements (TILA) concretizes this approach according to the principles of critical multiplism. The effectivity of TILA is scrutinized via the personalized concepts AuRELIA (Authentic Reflective Exploratory Learning and Interaction Arrangements) and CrEEd (Criteria-based Explorations in Education). These concepts are presented in detail, empirically investigated, and underpinned with practical examples. In the current edited volume, the concept of self-determined Inquiry Learning is further empirically substantiated and presented to the international community.
