Excerpt from Handwork in Religious Education The progress in religious education in the last few years has been highly encouraging. The subject has attained something of a status as a scientific study, and significant investigative and experimental work has been done. More than that, trained men and women in increasing numbers have been devoting themselves to the endeavor to work out in churches and Sunday schools the practical problems of organization and method. It would seem that the time has come to present to the large body of workers in the field of religious education some of the results of the studies and practice of those who have attained a measure of educational success. With this end in view the present series of books on "Principles and Methods of Religious Education" has been undertaken. It is intended that these books, while thoroughly scientific in character, shall be at the same time i popular in presentation, so that they may be available to Sunday-school and church workers everywhere. The endeavor is definitely made to take into account the small school with meager equipment, as well as to hold before the larger schools the ideals of equipment and training. Excerpt from Motives and Expression, in Religious Education: A Manual of Worship, Hand-Work, Play and Service There are two problems in religious education which this manual seeks to solve. First, the use of proper motives to secure the child's interest and, second, to supply practical correlated expression in the religious educational program. In the practical solution of these problems it has been necessary to present briefly a complete program of expression, including worship, singing, hand-work, plays and social service. This does not permit a thorough discussion of any one of these forms of expression. Our discussions of method are necessarily brief and only types of expressional activities are presented. This will allow the teacher to make further research and a presentation of her theme, using her own originality. The impressional method in religious education has in the past been over emphasized. Only more recently have we provided for the expressional side of religious teaching. Expressional methods without any regard to motives or correlations with the lesson theme miss the real aim. This manual seeks to give expression its true value in religious educational methods. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. The Craft Of Religious Studies written by NA NA and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-30 with Philosophy categories.

Unlike other humanistic disciplines, the academic study of religion must contend with a phenomenon that touches every dimension of human experience. For scholars so engaged, the study of religion often becomes a cross-cultural as well as a necessarily interdisciplinary endeavor. In this collection of original essays, Jon R. Stone has brought together the intellectual autobiographies of fourteen senior scholars - all with national or international reputations in their respective fields - each of whom reflects upon his or her own theoretical assumptions and methodological approaches to the study of religion. Taken together, these essays represent the variety of research methods and interpretive rigor mature scholars bring to the task of examining religious phenomena, religious actions, religious movements, and religious ideas.
