This book derives new Hardy inequalities with double singular weights - at an interior point and on the boundary of the domain. We focus on the optimality of Hardy constant and on its attainability. Applications include: results about existence\nonexistence and controllability for parabolic equations with double singular potentials; estimates from below of the fi rst eigenvalue of p-Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary conditions.

Concentration inequalities, which express the fact that certain complicated random variables are almost constant, have proven of utmost importance in many areas of probability and statistics. This volume contains refined versions of these inequalities, and their relationship to many applications particularly in stochastic analysis. The broad range and the high quality of the contributions make this book highly attractive for graduates, postgraduates and researchers in the above areas.

World Scientific Series in Applicable Analysis (WSSIAA) reports new developments of a high mathematical standard and of current interest. Each volume in the series is devoted to mathematical analysis that has been applied, or is potentially applicable to the solution of scientific, engineering, and social problems. The third volume of WSSIAA contains 47 research articles on inequalities by leading mathematicians from all over the world and a tribute by R.M. Redheffer to Wolfgang Walter ? to whom this volume is dedicated ? on his 66th birthday.Contributors: A Acker, J D Aczl, A Alvino, K A Ames, Y Avishai, C Bandle, B M Brown, R C Brown, D Brydak, P S Bullen, K Deimling, J Diaz, ? An Invitation To Mathematics written by Dierk Schleicher and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-05-19 with Mathematics categories.
This Invitation to Mathematics consists of 14 contributions, many from the world's leading mathematicians, which introduce the readers to exciting aspects of current mathematical research. The contributions are as varied as the personalities of active mathematicians, but together they show mathematics as a rich and lively field of research. The contributions are written for interested students at the age of transition between high school and university who know high school mathematics and perhaps competition mathematics and who want to find out what current research mathematics is about. We hope that it will also be of interest to teachers or more advanced mathematicians who would like to learn about exciting aspects of mathematics outside of their own work or specialization. Together with a team of young ``test readers'', editors and authors have taken great care, through a substantial ``active editing'' process, to make the contributions understandable by the intended readership.

Functional Inequalities New Perspectives And New Applications written by Nassif Ghoussoub and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-09 with Mathematics categories.
"The book describes how functional inequalities are often manifestations of natural mathematical structures and physical phenomena, and how a few general principles validate large classes of analytic/geometric inequalities, old and new. This point of view leads to "systematic" approaches for proving the most basic inequalities, but also for improving them, and for devising new ones--sometimes at will and often on demand. These general principles also offer novel ways for estimating best constants and for deciding whether these are attained in appropriate function spaces. As such, improvements of Hardy and Hardy-Rellich type inequalities involving radially symmetric weights are variational manifestations of Sturm's theory on the oscillatory behavior of certain ordinary differential equations. On the other hand, most geometric inequalities, including those of Sobolev and Log-Sobolev type, are simply expressions of the convexity of certain free energy functionals along the geodesics on the Wasserstein manifold of probability measures equipped with the optimal mass transport metric. Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg and Hardy-Rellich-Sobolev type inequalities are then obtained by interpolating the above two classes of inequalities via the classical ones of Hölder. The subtle Moser-Onofri-Aubin inequalities on the two-dimensional sphere are connected to Liouville type theorems for planar mean field equations."--Publisher's website.

Lyapunov Inequalities And Applications written by Ravi P. Agarwal and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-12 with Mathematics categories.
This book provides an extensive survey on Lyapunov-type inequalities. It summarizes and puts order into a vast literature available on the subject, and sketches recent developments in this topic. In an elegant and didactic way, this work presents the concepts underlying Lyapunov-type inequalities, covering how they developed and what kind of problems they address. This survey starts by introducing basic applications of Lyapunov’s inequalities. It then advances towards even-order, odd-order, and higher-order boundary value problems; Lyapunov and Hartman-type inequalities; systems of linear, nonlinear, and quasi-linear differential equations; recent developments in Lyapunov-type inequalities; partial differential equations; linear difference equations; and Lyapunov-type inequalities for linear, half-linear, and nonlinear dynamic equations on time scales, as well as linear Hamiltonian dynamic systems. Senior undergraduate students and graduate students of mathematics, engineering, and science will benefit most from this book, as well as researchers in the areas of ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, difference equations, and dynamic equations. Some background in calculus, ordinary and partial differential equations, and difference equations is recommended for full enjoyment of the content.

Weighted Sobolev Spaces written by Alois Kufner and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1985-07-23 with Mathematics categories.
A systematic account of the subject, this book deals with properties and applications of the Sobolev spaces with weights, the weight function being dependent on the distance of a point of the definition domain from the boundary of the domain or from its parts. After an introduction of definitions, examples and auxilliary results, it describes the study of properties of Sobolev spaces with power-type weights, and analogous problems for weights of a more general type. The concluding chapter addresses applications of weighted spaces to the solution of the Dirichlet problem for an elliptic linear differential operator.
