L'objet du présent document est de présenter une orientation harmonisée pour les études de la dissipation des pesticides chimiques classiques en milieu terrestre au champ afin de répondre aux exigences en données sur les caractéristiques chimiques et le devenir des pesticides dans l'environnement. Les lignes directrices harmonisées ont été élaborées conjointement avec la United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) dans le cadre du Groupe de travail technique sur les pesticides de l'Accord de libre-échange nord-américan (ALENA). Elles son basées sur les principes d'orientation publiés dans la circulaire à la profession T-1-255, Guide d'homologation des pesticides au Canada : chimie et devenir dans l'environnement. D'autres éléments se trouvent dans l'introduction des lignes directrices annexées, intitulées Document d'orientation de l'ALENA pour effectuer les études de la dissipation en milieu terrestre au champ. Le présent document présente une orientation harmonisée dans le cadre de l'ALENA pour les études de la dissipation (en milieu) terrestre au champ (DTC), réalisées pour déterminer la transformation, le transport et le devenir des pesticides dans des conditions d'utilisation réelles et représentatives. Ces études au champ sont nécessaires pour corroborer les données physicochimiques ainsi que de mobilité et de biotransformation provenant des études en laboratoire. Les études sur le devenir dans l'environnement ont montré que la dissipation des pesticides peut se faire à différentes vitesses dans les conditions du champ et peut entraîner la formation de produits de dégradation à des concentrations différentes de celles observées dans les études en laboratoire.
