America’s first fashion magazine, Harper’s Bazaar has showcased the visions of legendary editors, photographers, and stylists and featured the works of noted writers since 1867. From its beginnings as a broadsheet aimed at the rising leisure class, the publication has since transformed into a magazine devoted to examining the lives of women through the lens of fashion. In celebration of the magazine’s 150th anniversary in 2017, Harper’s Bazaar: 150 Years captures the greats who have shaped the magazine over these decades. Harper’s Bazaar: 150 Years includes the most iconic pieces of work from the magazine's archive: more than 150 photographs and covers and 50 text excerpts, including articles, poems, and works of fiction. Organized chronologically, the selections showcase the breadth of creativity and artistry that has been published in the pages of the magazine for more than a century and prove that Harper’s Bazaar is more than just a fashion magazine.

Waplington's informal vérité portrait of American fashion designer Mizrahi's studio and runway shows of the late 1980s and early '90s From 1989 to 1993, New York fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi granted the British photographer Nick Waplington rare backstage access to photograph every detail of the designer's fitting sessions in the weeks before his twice-yearly fashion shows. Combining Waplington's gritty vérité style with Mizrahi's haute couture sensibilities, the resulting images offer a candid glimpse into the world of fashion when supermodels including Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell reigned supreme. At the same time, Waplington set out to document the wildly creative nightlife of the '90s club kid culture in New York, juxtaposing his images of uptown style with downtown looks and taking pictures at some of the city's most infamous clubs, such as the Pyramid Club and Save the Robots. Artist and photographer Nick Waplington (born 1970) has published several monographs, including Living Room and The Wedding (Aperture), Safety in Numbers (Booth Clibborn), Truth or Consequences (Phaidon) and Alexander McQueen: Working Process (Damiani). He lives in London and New York. Isaac Mizrahi (born 1961) has been a leader in the fashion industry for almost 30 years. In 1995 he was the subject of the award-winning documentary, Unzipped. In 2003 Mizrahi pioneered the concept of merging high design with mass retail in partnership with Target. He has designed costumes for the New York Metropolitan Opera, the American Ballet Theater and the San Francisco Ballet. Mizrahi is the author of How to Have Style and has been head judge on Lifetime's Project Runway: All Stars.

For lovers of vintage clothing, British supermodel and vintage fashion muse Kate Moss unveils a personally curated selection of her favorite couture and costume pieces from the Museo de la Moda, the world-class fashion museum in Santiago, Chile. International fashion icon Kate Moss and the premier South American fashion museum Museo de la Moda meet in this undeniably stylish volume that celebrates iconic vintage fashion moments throughout history. The Museo de la Moda, founded in 1999, opened in 2007, and directed by Chile's first textile industry scion Jorge Yarur Bascuñán, is one of the world's most important but least-known museums of its kind, housing exquisite garments from nineteenth-century Dolman shawls to twenty-first-century sequin dresses by Balmain. Edited by Kate Moss with text contributions from fashion curator Lydia Kamitsis, this volume features a stylish selection of one hundred archival pieces from the museum, each charting different fashion trends that have inspired Moss's personal sartorial style. Organized by fashion theme, from 1920s opera coats to 1960s Swinging London designs, but also including iconic pieces of pop culture, such as Marilyn Monroe's black dresses and Jimi Hendrix's Indian tunics, each chapter showcases new images of the museum garments as selected by Moss, accompanied by interesting anecdotes and street-style photography documenting Moss wearing that particular fashion trend. This is a chic volume that will appeal to Moss's global following and readers passionate about style, fashion history, design, and culture.

A complex and at times controversial film-maker whose career spanned the second half of the twentieth century, Federico Fellini (1920–1993) remains central to the Italian cultural imagery and the object of ongoing debates and critical scrutiny at home and abroad. Images from his films – Gelsomina’s tears, Marcello’s sunglasses – have become global signifiers not only for Fellini and Italian cinema but for Italy itself, as steadily lodged in the world’s collective unconscious as the Colosseum’s arches and Venice’s gondolas. Marking the centenary of Fellini’s birth, Federico Fellini: Centenary Essays reassesses the film-maker’s legacy with diverse contributions from established and emerging Fellini scholars as well as renowned Canadian film-makers. From literary influences to pictorial references, from artistic collaborations to politics, and from exhibition history to revivals, the collection covers the pivotal aspects of Fellini’s poetics through contemporary methodological tools and features a wide array of scholarly approaches. With complexity and nuance, the book takes stock of the enormous cultural legacy of one of the most celebrated directors in cinema history and is essential reading for scholars and cinephiles alike.

The fashion model's hold on popular consciousness is undeniable. How did models emerge as such powerful icons in modern consumer culture? This volume brings together cutting-edge articles on fashion models, examining modelling through race, class and gender, as well as its structure as an aesthetic marketplace within the global fashion economy. Essays include treatments of the history of fashion modelling, exploring how concerns about racial purity and the idealization of light skinned black women shaped the practice of modelling in its early years. Other essays examine how models have come to define femininity through consumer culture. While modelling's global nature is addressed throughout, chapters deal specifically with model markets in Australia and Tokyo, where nationalist concerns colour what is considered a pretty face. It also considers how models glamorize consumption through everyday activities, and neoliberal labour forms via reality TV. With commentaries from industry professionals who experienced the cultural juggernaut of the supermodels, the final essay situates their impact within the rise of brand culture and the globalization of fashion markets since 1990. Accessible and highly engaging, Fashioning Models is essential reading for students and scholars of fashion and related disciplines.
