While atheists such as Richard Dawkins have now become public figures, there is another and perhaps darker strain of religious rebellion that has remained out of sight--people who hate God. In this revealing book, Bernard Schweizer looks at men and women who do not question God's existence, but deny that He is merciful, competent, or good. Sifting through a wide range of literary and historical works, Schweizer finds that people hate God for a variety of reasons. Some are motivated by social injustice, human suffering, or natural catastrophes that God does not prevent. Some blame God for their personal tragedies. Schweizer concludes that, despite their blasphemous thoughts, these people tend to be creative and moral individuals, and include such literary lights as Friedrich Nietzsche, Mark Twain, Zora Neale Hurston, Rebecca West, Elie Wiesel, and Philip Pullman. Schweizer shows that literature is a fertile ground for God haters. Many authors, who dare not voice their negative attitude to God openly, turn to fiction to give vent to it. Indeed, Schweizer provides many new and startling readings of literary masterpieces, highlighting the undercurrent of hatred for God. Moreover, by probing the deeper mainsprings that cause sensible, rational, and moral beings to turn against God, Schweizer offers answers to some of the most vexing questions that beset human relationships with the divine.

Hating God, Loving God presents the author's graphic and painful memories of being raised in a secretive, abusive, and manipulative cult, and how his childhood sufferings spilled over into a troubled adolescence and a deeply disturbed adulthood. In throwing off the lies told to him by the cult's elders, he also threw away any sense of God's love and mercy. His pain, fuelled by a hatred of God, whom he blamed for all his troubles, turned him into a bully, a petty thief, and, but for the grace of God, a murderer. Somehow, he survived adolescence, got an education, and set out on the road to making money, believing that the accumulation of possessions was the only thing that would earn him respect. But his pain persisted, and he sought relief in all the wrong places. Even the unexpected love of a good woman was not enough to take away the pain. Adrift in an ocean of despair, he decided to commit suicide. It was only then when he was at his lowest point that he was ready to accept a truth he had persistently denied: the truth that God loved him. After giving my life to Jesus Christ, who transformed him and renewed his soul, he went from hating God to loving God.

In Seven Things God Hates, you will discover that God is not only a God who loves but also a God who hates. Just as divine love permeates the pages of scripture, so does divine hatreddivine hatred for evil and evildoers who act contrary to the will of God. The Bible emphatically states that God is love (1 John 4:8). However, he is also a God who has a holy abhorrence for both sin and specific sinners whose sins are an abomination in His sight. The whole thrust of the Old and New Testament hinges on the love of God for man and His disdain for sin. The epitome of Gods love for man is seen in the person of Jesus Christ, the gift of God to mankind. Gods hatred for evil and wickedness is also evident. It is an often-ignored characteristic of the Lord, but a divine characteristic nonetheless. This study examines seven particular things God hates that are expressed in Proverbs 6:1619 and further expounded on throughout scripture. Get inspired by Dr. Talleys teachings on the seven things God hates. His teachings will give you a better understanding of the mind of God and enlighten your perspective about the love of God and His disgust for sin.

"Finally, my type of book," my wife's exclamation after reading the first chapter! If Susan Buckley actually believed in God, she would probably hate Him. Orphaned by a drunk driver as a young girl, she has developed a rather healthy dislike of anyone or anything vaguely religious. In her senior year of college, Susan is a leader in the Woman's Study Department. The last thing she needs is a romantic distraction to take away from her top academic standing. What she can't figure out is why Carl Spenser, a wounded warrior who lost his feet in Afghanistan, doesn't hate God. It makes no sense to her at all that Carl gives thanks in everything he does to such a ruthless God. Granted, Carl is a rather attractive man, but Susan can't figure out why she is so drawn to him; like a moth to a flame, maybe. All she has ever been taught is that a religious man is in total opposition to a worldly woman, yet she is drawn to him. Sparks fly whenever they are in the same room? Who is the mysterious Maria Alvarez and why is she always with Carl and why should this bother Susan if she has absolutely no interest in him? Maria is so loving, that she and Susan soon become fast friends which really complicates everything. Hating God is book one in the Campus Romance Series.

Hating For Jesus written by Timothy Williams and has been published by Winepress Pub this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-03-01 with Religion categories.

"Hating for Jesus" encourages you to return to the cross and crucify all of self. We live in "terrible times" (2 Tim.), where the Church loves its self while claiming to know and love God. Hating for Jesus is about escaping that corruption. The title is not meant to shock you; it is a deeper spiritual matter than that. When Jesus preached that people had to count the cost before they could call themselves "Christians," they were the salt of the world. Now, down through the centuries, we have opened the narrow gate wider and wider. "Hating for Jesus" looks squarely at Luke 14:26: If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, even his own life he cannot be my disciple. This book does not shrink back from the offense of the cross. Hating for Jesus is about lifting Jesus up crucified and understanding that He did nothing by His own power, wisdom, or initiative. It returns to the very fundamentals of what it means to call oneself a "Christian." For those willing to hate for Jesus, the richest of fellowship awaits them: fellowship with the living God. Timothy Williams is not a professional writer. He is not a trained speaker and, like the disciples, is ordinary and unschooled (Acts 4:13). He is not insane enough to boast of ministry outreach or other works in the Lord to motivate you to buy this book, (2 Cor. 11:23). Nor is the reader offered any letters of recommendation by well-known Christians (2 Cor. 3:1). Tim is only interested in sharing how the Lord calls us to live out 1 Corinthians 2:2: "For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucifi ed."

Sometimes, running from your problems is easier if there's someone running with you. Neither has actually dealt with their problems, though, just shoving them further and further back into the recesses of their minds. In the spiritual realm, hate is one of the most powerful forces because it is the opposite of love, the spiritual world's most powerful force. In I Hate God, I Love God, author Theresa L. Smith exposes the original hater and his plans to destroy God's people. Using examples from her personal life along with scriptural references, Smith shows Christians how to turn hatred into love, lies into truth, negative into positive, and curse into blessing. I Hate God, I Love God explores a host of negative emotions and actions-such as jealousy, unforgiveness, and spiritual bankruptcy-and discusses how these can be changed for the better. This guide facilitates soul searching and challenges Christians to think of what and who the real warlocks and witches look like and how they operate. I Hate God, I Love God seeks to encourage and inspire those who feel hopeless and helpless to know that God can and will turn it around.
