Heidegger S Concept Of Philosophical Method written by Vincent Blok and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-10-08 with Philosophy categories.

This book provides new interpretations of Heidegger’s philosophical method in light of 20th-century postmodernism and 21st-century speculative realism. In doing so, it raises important questions about philosophical method in the age of global warming and climate change. Vincent Blok addresses topics that have yet to be extensively discussed in Heidegger scholarship, including Heidegger’s method of questioning, the religious character of Heidegger’s philosophical method, and Heidegger’s conceptualization of philosophical method as explorative confrontation. He is also critical of Heidegger’s conceptuality and develops a post-Heideggerian concept of philosophical method, which provides a new perspective on the role of willing, poetry, and earth-interest in contemporary philosophy. This earth-interest turns out to be particularly important to consider and leads to critical reflections on Heidegger’s concept of Earth, the necessity of Earth-interest in contemporary philosophy, and a post-Heideggerian concept of the Earth. Heidegger’s Concept of Philosophical Method will be of interest primarily to Heidegger scholars and graduate students, but its discussion of philosophical method and environmental philosophy will also appeal to scholars in other disciplines and areas of philosophy.

African Cinema In A Global Age written by Kenneth W. Harrow and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-09-19 with Social Science categories.

This book traces the developments in African films that were made from the 1990s to the present within the evolving frame of what came to be called ‘World Cinema’ and, eventually, ‘Global Cinema.’ Kenneth W. Harrow explores how, from the time video and then digital technologies were introduced in the 1990s, and then again, when streaming platforms assumed major roles in producing and distributing film between the 2010s and 2020s, African cinema underwent enormous changes. He highlights how the introduction of the continent’s first successful commercial cinema, Nollywood, shifted the focus from engagé films, with social or political messages, to entertainment movies, but also auteur cinema. Harrow explores how this transformation liberated African filmmakers and resulted in an incredible, enduring flow of creative, inventive, and thoughtful filmmaking. This book presents a number of those critical films that mark that trajectory, projecting a new sense of African film spaces and temporalities, while also highlighting how African films continue to find independent pathways. This book will be of interest to students and scholars of African cinema and world cinema, as well as researchers specifically examining African cinemas and their relationship to globalization.

The new essays in this collection examine newer forms of colonialism operating today in an increasingly globalized world. Recognizing the complexities and culpability of postcolonial politics, the contributors fill gaps that exist at theoretical levels of postcolonial studies. By studying film, literature, history and architecture, they arrive at new ideas about immigration, gender, cultural translation, identity and the future. The collection is driven by notions of ethics, an increasingly influential force at the grassroots if not the international level, addressing capitalism and its attendant drawbacks throughout the course of the book.

The Time Of The World Image written by Martin Heidegger and has been published by Newcomb Livraria Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on with Philosophy categories.

A new 2024 translation of Heidegger's early work "The Time of the World Image" (original German "Die Zeit des Weltbildes"), which is one of the 6 major essays of the work "Holzwege" originally published in 1914. This edition contains a new afterword by the Translator, a timeline of Heidegger's life and works, a philosophic index of core Heideggerian concepts and a guide for Existentialist terminology across 19th and 20th century Existentialists. This translation is designed for readability and accessibility to Heidegger's enigmatic and dense philosophy. Complex and specific philosophic terms are translated as literally as possible and academic footnotes have been removed to ensure easy reading. Heidegger here explores Worldviews, focusing on Life-Views. He focuses on the transformation in the way the world is understood and represented in modernity. Heidegger examines the concept of the "world picture," which means more than a mere image of the world; it means a world that has been conceived and grasped as an image. This transformation leads to a fundamental change in the relationship between human beings and their world that underlies modern science, technology, and the understanding of being itself. Heidegger also comments on the origins of Nihilism, although he provides no antidote to the "renunciation of all values". The collection this paper comes from, Holzwege, is second only to "Being and Time" in fame. Here he levies some of his most perceptive commentary on Hegel, Descartes, Nietzsche, Anaximander, Rilke, and Hölderlin. Wood Paths consists of a collection of essays that reflect on philosophical and existential questions through the analysis of art, poetry, and history. The original German title "Holzwege" refers to the logging paths in German forests, which anyone who's hiked in Germany knows are always dead-ends. Hence, this is sometimes translated as "dead ends" or "logging roads" or "Off the Beaten Track" or something along those lines, as this is what the title means- the dead end trails of philosophy and the inherent obscurity of the pursuit of Being. Heidegger uses these essays to explore his ontological inquiries, particularly the nature of being and the relationship between human beings and the world around them.

Being In The World written by Hubert L. Dreyfus and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1990-12-14 with Philosophy categories.

Being-in-the-World is a guide to one of the most influential philosophical works of this century: Division I of Part One of Being and Time, where Martin Heidegger works out an original and powerful account of being-in-the-world which he then uses to ground a profound critique of traditional ontology and epistemology. Hubert Dreyfus's commentary opens the way for a new appreciation of this difficult philosopher, revealing a rigorous and illuminating vocabulary that is indispensable for talking about the phenomenon of world. The publication of Being and Time in 1927 turned the academic world on its head. Since then it has become a touchstone for philosophers as diverse as Marcuse, Sartre, Foucault, and Derrida who seek an alternative to the rationalist Cartesian tradition of western philosophy. But Heidegger's text is notoriously dense, and his language seems to consist of unnecessarily barbaric neologisms; to the neophyte and even to those schooled in Heidegger thought, the result is often incomprehensible. Dreyfus's approach to this daunting book is straightforward and pragmatic. He explains the text by frequent examples drawn from everyday life, and he skillfully relates Heidegger's ideas to the questions about being and mind that have preoccupied a generation of cognitive scientists and philosophers of mind.

Heidegger S Later Philosophy written by Julian Young and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002 with Philosophy categories.

Heidegger's later philosophy has often been regarded as a lapse into unintelligible mysticism. While not ignoring its deep and difficult complexities, Julian Young's book explains in simple and straightforward language just what it is all about. It examines Heidegger's identification of loss of 'the gods', the violence of technology, and humanity's 'homelessness' as symptoms of the destitution of modernity, and his notion that overcoming 'oblivion of Being' is the essence of a turning to a post-destitute, genuinely post-modern existence. Young argues that Heidegger's conception of such an overcoming is profoundly fruitful with respect to the ancient quest to discover the nature of the good life. His book will be an invaluable resource for both students and scholars of Heidegger's works.
