Ranging from easy cake recipes to fancy cake recipes, they are all yummy cakes and other varieties, including brownies and cupcakes; along with homemade icing recipes. All of the recipes selected to be included are for yummy cakes, selecting the best cake recipes from her mother's handwritten recipe book collection. When discovering this treasure, the author determined to share many of the homemade cake recipes. The recipes include: Marble Bundt Cake Sour Cream Cake Spice Cake Ring of Coconut Fudge Cake Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Frosting Apple Dapple Cake Original Coffee Cake Delicious Chocolate Brownies Lemon Velvet Cake with Lemon Pudding Topping White Chocolate Cake and White Chocolate Frosting Pumpkin Spice Cake Black Chocolate Cake with Lemon Icing Coffee Time Banana Nut Cake Cherry Coffee Cake Rhubarb Cake Chocolate Cinnamon Cupcakes with Chocolate Icing Pineapple Swirl Cake Coconut – Orange Layer Cake with Marshmallow Coconut Frosting Sour Cream Fudge Layer Cake with Chocolate Frosting Bonus: Delicious Mocha Spice Coffee From the Introduction: “Many of my favorite childhood memories revolve around baking. Both of my grandmothers were avid and talented bakers; and both made it seem effortless. My mother was also skilled at turning out a delicious baked dessert, having learned from my grandmother. I remember many days when I came home from school to open the door and have a delicious aroma from the kitchen as my first greeting, to be followed by a cheery “hello!” from the kitchen. As I grew, I became interested in helping my mother prepare a favorite dessert. When I was small, I would need to stand on the seat of a chair, pulled alongside her at the kitchen counter, where I would help add ingredients, and stir a bowl of batter. As I grew older, the chair was no longer needed, and I took on a more active role. I, too, learned the happiness and satisfaction is preparing a dessert, serving it to family, and being rewarded by seeing their happy expressions and enjoyment. While my grandmothers knew their “tried-and-true” recipes by heart, my mother started to write them down, and put a quantity next to an ingredient, instead of a “handful” or another general measurement. I am so thankful to her for her attentiveness in doing this! Recently I rediscovered my mother's recipe book, handwritten over many years, as well as my grandmother's recipe box; both chock-full of my favorite recipes. It has been my pleasure to bake them, make additional notes and comments, photographing my results with many of the dishes and table linens from my mother and grandmothers; and now, to share them with you. I wish you much enjoyment, in preparing, serving, and eating your creations yourself, and in sharing them with your friends and family.”

Dr. Brent Ridge and New York Times bestselling author Josh Kilmer-Purcell are not your average couple: The two Manhattanites left their big city lives behind, and found themselves living in bucolic Sharon Springs, New York, where they became "accidental goat farmers." But what began as a way to reconnect with their own style of modern country living soon exploded into a wildly successful brand, Beekman 1802, named after their historic home. Brent and Josh are now world-renowned for producing everything from magnificent handcrafted goat’s milk soaps to artisanal Blaak cheese, and now, with The Beekman 1802 Heirloom Dessert Cookbook, they’re bringing their special vintage-modern touch to classic, remarkable recipes bound to become family favorites year after year. The Beekman 1802 Heirloom Dessert Cookbook will show off the delicious and decadent recipes that the Beekman Boys have collected from across the generations of their family, from Brent’s grandmother’s Fourth of July Fruitcake to Josh’s mother’s Hot Chocolate Dumplings. Each recipe will be accompanied by a personal memory from the authors or a story about how that recipe came to be. With eco-conscious and vintage-oriented food production gaining traction as a major culinary trend, this beautiful package will reel in readers, whether they’re nostalgic for some classic Americana in their kitchen or just hankering for the perfect Blackberry Betty recipe.
