Stefan Welzk blickt auf die Protestaktion und ihre Geschichte zurück. Er erzählt von der Entstehung einer "subversiven" Subkultur unter Leipziger Studenten, von Idee und Ablauf dieser Aktion und vom Schicksal der Verhafteten und Geflüchteten. Stefan Welzk zeigt auf eindrückliche Weise, welch unterschiedlichen Verlauf die Lebenswege in Ost und West genommen haben. Ernüchternd sind seine Erfahrungen im politischen Establishment der Nachwendezeit.
