Since the 20th century, this has become one of the best known tourist attractions of New Zealand. Now, we shall look into the details of New Zealand, the country of the Maori culture and the grand nature.

Religion In Secular Education written by Cathy Byrne and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-01-09 with Philosophy categories.

Cathy Byrne presents the secular principle as a guiding compass for religion in government schools in plural democracies. Using in-depth case studies, historical and contextual research from Australia, and comparisons with other developed nations, Religion in Secular Education provides a comprehensive, at times confronting, analysis of the ideologies, policies, pedagogies, and practices for state-school religion. In the context of rising demands for students to develop intercultural competence and interreligious literacy, and alongside increasing Christian evangelism in the public arena, this book highlights risks and implications as education develops religious identity – in individual children and in nation states. Byrne proposes a best practice framework for nations attempting to navigate towards socially inclusive outcomes and critical thinking in religions education policy.

A 2010 Human Rights Commission report found that Asian people reported higher levels of discrimination than any other minority in New Zealand. K. Emma Ng shines light onto the persistence of anti-Asian sentiment in New Zealand. Her anecdotal account is based on her personal experience as a second-generation young Chinese-New Zealand woman. When Asian people have been living here since the gold rushes of the 1860s, she asks, what will it take for them to be fully accepted as New Zealanders?

Australia As An Asia Pacific Regional Power written by Brendan Taylor and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-03-25 with Political Science categories.

During recent years, in its traditional role as an important Asia-Pacific regional power, Australia has had to cope with a rapidly changing external security environment and a series of new challenges, including a rising China, an increasingly assertive United States, and most notably the Global War against Terror. This book considers the changing nature of Australia’s identity and role in the Asia-Pacific, and the forces behind these developments, with particular attention towards security alignments and alliance relationships. It outlines the contours of Australia’s traditional role as a key regional middle power and the patterns of its heavy reliance on security alignments and alliances. Brendan Taylor goes on to consider Australia’s relationships with other regional powers including Japan, China, Indonesia and India, uncovering the underlying purposes and expectations associated with these relationships, their evolving character – particularly in the post Cold War era – and likely future directions. He discusses the implications for the region of Australia’s new ‘Pacific doctrine’ of intervention, whether Australia’s traditional alliance preferences are compatible with the emergence of a new East Asian security mechanism, and the impact of new, transnational and non-traditional security challenges such as terrorism and failed states.

Reconstructing Law And Justice In A Postcolony written by Nonso Okafo and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-04-08 with Social Science categories.

Drawing on data from a cross-section of postcolonial nations across the world and on a detailed case-study of Nigeria, this book examines the experience of recreating law and justice in postcolonial societies. The author's definition of postcolonial societies includes countries that have emerged from external colonial rule, such as Nigeria and India as well as societies that have overcome internal dominations, such as Afghanistan and Iraq. Suggesting that restructuring a system of law and justice must involve a consideration of the traditions, customs and native laws of a society as well as the official, often foreign rules, this volume examines how ethnically complex nations resolve disputes, whether criminal or civil, through a combination of formal and informal social control systems. This book is unique in its concern with how the average citizens of a postcolonial society can play more active parts in their nation's law and justice, and how modern and increasingly urban societies can learn from indigenous peoples and institutions, which are more informal in their approaches to problem-solving. The concluding chapter looks at the possibility of an increased role for civil as opposed to criminal response in the social control system of a postcolonial society.

Exclusive jurisdiction rules related to intellectual property rights cases are insufficiently supported by the arguments usually invoked in their favor. This second collection of outstanding shortlisted contributions from the Critical Management Studies (CMS) Interest Group of the Academy of Management (AOM) Dark Side" case-writing competition continues to go where other business case studies fear to tread. There are very many case studies of business best practice when engaging with social, environmental and ethical issues. But when educators look for resources to illustrate to students the more typical examples of bad – let alone scandalous – practices of some firms, the cupboard is almost entirely bare. And yet there is a critical need for business educators to expose students and managers to such issues to understand the different multifaceted phenomena of our late capitalist era; to support critical, reflective moral development; and to reflect and understand the complexities of organizational life. To argue that such cases deal with the bad apples in an otherwise functioning system misses the point. Whether focusing on the phone-hacking scandals at national newspapers, the influence of big pharma companies on clinical trials, the Bhopal tragedy or the use of child labour in the garment industry, the problems discussed are of major importance and in many cases have been demonstrated to be common practice for particular companies. Good news they are not, but all are stimulating and present students with dilemmas and decisions to make in a myriad of ways. Each of these 14 selected cases from 2009–2012 has been thoroughly documented, peer-reviewed and edited. They cover four continents (Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania) and both business and public organizations. The industries covered range from extractive industries, the energy industry, consumer products, pulp and paper, movies, media, municipal affairs, academia, banking, and the drug industry. The book is split into three sections: 'Community and Environment'; 'Human Rights and Business'; and 'Ethics and Policy'.Online Teaching Notes to accompany each chapter are available on request with the purchase of the book.
