Helpful Reflections for Difficult Times examines the emotional and spiritual impact our earthly trials have on our hearts and points us to a prayerful and contemplative walk with God. Ed Keelen, a cancer survivor, channeled his physical distress that he experienced into daily reflections that explore the question, Where is God when I suffer? These reflections will lead you through steps of deeper communion with God through silent contemplation and prayer. Helpful Reflections for Difficult Times is for anyone experiencing suffering and longing to know the unfathomable love of God. The reflections focus on a specific Scripture each day and explore its meaning and application to a person's trial. Not only do they urge you toward a higher state of mind that strives to see God's bigger picture, but also, they encourage you through the mundane tasks of your everyday life. When we suffer, it is easy to become overwhelmed by the enormity of our circumstances. Helpful Reflections for Difficult Times declares that God is still in control, that God still loves you, that God has a plan and a purpose for your sorrow, and that God will bring joy to your life.

Coping And Hoping 62 Poems That Take You From Despair To Hope written by Ed Keelen and has been published by Ambassador International this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-12-12 with Poetry categories.
Coping and Hoping pretty well sums up what Ed Keelen has been through over the past several years. His friends call him “Miracle Man” for the number of times he has escaped the clutches of death and has come back to life. Even though he came back to a life of pain and suffering, to him it was a life well worth living. Ed's mantra is “to see the preciousness of life and the goodness of God through the lens of pain and suffering.” For quite a while, he was looking through the wrong end of the lens and would complain and show anger toward God and his friends. But through a process of reading the Psalms of Lament and then developing his own talent for writing similar poetry, he gradually went from despair to hope. Ed is not a trained or seasoned poet. Instead, he writes from the heart, and his poems engulf the reader in the emotional roller coaster that constitutes his life.

Good Neighbors Bad Times Revisited written by Mimi Schwartz and has been published by U of Nebraska Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-03 with Biography & Autobiography categories.
Mimi Schwartz's father was born Jewish in a tiny German village thirty years before the advent of Hitler when, as he'd tell her, "We all got along." In her original memoir, Good Neighbors, Bad Times, Schwartz explored how human decency fared among Christian and Jewish neighbors before, during, and after Nazi times. Ten years after its publication, a letter arrived from a man named Max Sayer in South Australia. Sayer, it turns out, grew up Catholic in the village during the Third Reich and in 1937 moved into an abandoned Jewish home five houses away from where the family of Schwartz's father had lived for generations before fleeing to America a few months earlier. The two families had never met. Sayer wrote an unpublished memoir about his childhood memories and in Schwartz's new edition, Good Neighbors, Bad Times Revisited, the two memoirs talk to each other. Weaving excerpts from Sayer's memoir and from a yearlong correspondence with him into her book, Schwartz revisits village history from a new perspective, deepening our understanding of decency and demonization. Given the rise of xenophobia, white supremacy, and anti-Semitism in the world today, this exploration seems more urgent than ever.

LEARN TO SEE WHAT’S HIDDEN RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. IT’S SEEING WHAT’S HIDDEN THAT MAKES THE VIEW EXTRAORDINARY. NAIKAN is a Japanese word that means “inside looking”” or ““introspection””. A more poetic translation is ““seeing oneself with the mind’’s eye””. Drawing on Eastern spiritual and psychological traditions, Naikan is a unique method of self--reflection for cultivating self--awareness, gratitude, empathy, and a path for moving forward in our lives. Through Naikan we develop a natural and profound sense of gratitude for blessings bestowed on us by others, blessings that were always there but went unnoticed. This is the 20th anniversary edition of this influential book. Author Gregg Krech, now after more than 30 years of teaching Naikan, shares the depth of his experience with essays, parables, poems, quotations, and recommended reflection exercises. The edition includes new material on relationships, a seven-day practice program, and guidelines to help mental-health professionals apply a Naikan perspective to counseling and therapy.

This collection lends a critical decolonising lens to intercultural communication research, bringing together perspectives on how forms of education embedded in the arts and humanities can open up intercultural understanding among young people in conditions of conflict and protracted crises. The book draws on case studies from a range of educational contexts in the Global South which engage in creative arts methodologies to foreground decolonising approaches to intercultural communication in which researchers question their own power in the research process. The volume offers intercultural resources that can be used by researchers and community support groups to foster active intercultural communication, dialogue, participation, and responsibility among young people in these settings and those who may be marginalised from them. The collection also highlights the reflexive accounts of researchers working in a transnational, interdisciplinary, and multilingual research network and the subsequent opportunities and challenges of working in such networks. Advocating for intercultural understanding among young people in higher education and a greater focus on social justice in intercultural communication research, this book will be of interest to students and researchers in applied linguistics, language education, intercultural education, and multilingualism.
