Companies should not be afraid to face feedback and complaints. According to the Treasury Board of Canada: Research suggests that relatively few dissatisfied clients bother to complain. As a result, every complaint received may provide a window into a much larger pool of dissatisfaction. By dealing with the causes of complaints, the organization can further reduce both the number of complaints and dissatisfaction with its program delivery or service. Complaint management is a tool to prevent the migration of customers to competitors, and more and more companies understand that simply recruiting new customers is not sufficient. As a consequence, intensification of defensive marketing, in contrast to offensive marketing actions, becomes more interesting to a company. The aim of defensive marketing should be the development of long-lasting customer relations. Im Gegensatz zur Handelsbetriebslehre und zur Bankbetriebslehre hat man sich innerhalb der Industriebetriebslehre auffallend wenig mit der Frage ihres Forschungsgegenstandes selbst, des Industriebetriebs und seiner Spielarten, beschäftigt. Ohne sich bei der Frage aufzuhalten, welcher Art die Betriebe sind, auf die sich die Aussagen der Lehre beziehen sollen, haben sich die mei sten Autoren sogleich den Teilfragen ihres Gebietes, wie Organisation, Rech nungswesen, zugewendet. Vielleicht erklärt sich dies daraus, daß für die Entwicklung der Industriebe triebslehre wie für keinen anderen Zweig der Betriebswirtschaftslehre die Fragen des Rechnungswesens im Vordergrund standen, daß man mehr in Ver fahrens- und Organisationsfragen als in Objekten zu denken sich gewöhnte. Dabei weist gerade die Industrie eine ungeheure Mannigfaltigkeit von Be triebsarten auf, und es ist kaum eine Aussage denkbar, die für alle Arten von Industriebetrieben in gleicherWeisegültig sein könnte. Der Schematismus auf diesem Gebiet hat nicht nur für den verhältnismäßig engen Umkreis der Industriebetriebslehre selbst Bedeutung, in seinen Aus wirkungen reicht er vielmehr weit ins Wirtschaftspolitische oder auch Sozial politische hinein. So hat man - um nur ein Beispiel anzuführen - heute keiner lei Hemmungen, Investitionskosten pro Arbeitsplatz in der Elektrotechnik (etwa 100000 DM) mit jenen in der Petro-Chemie (etwa 300000 DM) zu vergleichen. Man fragt nicht, welchen Sinn ein derartiger Vergleich haben könnte. Schon der Begriff des Arbeitsplatzes ist in der Großchemie reichlich sinnlos.
