Schulen sehen sich heute einer zunehmend heterogenen Schülerschaft gegenüber. Band der Reihe „Schule in evangelischer Trägerschaft“ greift in einem ersten Teil die Diskussionen um Bildungsgerechtigkeit auf, wie sie auf den beiden Bundeskongressen Evangelische Schule von 2006 (Berlin) und 2008 (Bethel) geführt wurden. Der zweite Teil wendet sich der pädagogischen Praxis evangelischer Schulen zu und nimmt vor allem die Aspekte von Individualisierung und Förderung in den Blick. Die Auswahl der vorgestellten Schulkonzepte und einzelnen Projekte ist nicht auf Repräsentativität oder Vollständigkeit angelegt, es sind Schlaglichter, die Mut zur Veränderung machen wollen. Der letzte Teil widmet sich konkreten Ansatzpunkten für Veränderung. Es geht um die wissenschaftlichen Befunde zur deutschen Praxis von Nichtversetzung und Abschulung im Kontext evangelischen Schulwesens und um Perspektiven einer auf Heterogenität ausgerichteten Lehrerausbildung. Der Band will Anregung sein zur Weiterentwicklung evangelischer Schulen auf dem Weg zu Inklusion und Bildungsgerechtigkeit.

Its c- st tent is based on select papers from the 1 OBIA International Conference held in Salzburg in July 2006, and is enriched by several invited chapters. All submissions have passed through a blind peer-review process resulting in what we believe is a timely volume of the highest scientific, theoretical and technical standards. The concept of OBIA first gained widespread interest within the GIScience (Geographic Information Science) community circa 2000, with the advent of the first commercial software for what was then termed ‘obje- oriented image analysis’. However, it is widely agreed that OBIA builds on older segmentation, edge-detection and classification concepts that have been used in remote sensing image analysis for several decades. Nevert- less, its emergence has provided a new critical bridge to spatial concepts applied in multiscale landscape analysis, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the synergy between image-objects and their radiometric char- teristics and analyses in Earth Observation data (EO).

Peter Burke follows up his magisterial Social History of Knowledge, picking up where the first volume left off around 1750 at the publication of the French Encyclopédie and following the story through to Wikipedia. The first argues that activities which appear to be timeless - gathering knowledge, analysing, disseminating and employing it - are in fact time-bound and take different forms in different periods and places. The second part tries to counter the tendency to write a triumphalist history of the 'growth' of knowledge by discussing losses of knowledge and the price of specialization. The third part offers geographical, sociological and chronological overviews, contrasting the experience of centres and peripheries and arguing that each of the main trends of the period - professionalization, secularization, nationalization, democratization, etc, coexisted and interacted with its opposite. As ever, Peter Burke presents a breath-taking range of scholarship in prose of exemplary clarity and accessibility. This highly anticipated second volume will be essential reading across the humanities and social sciences.
