"The magic calls her. A prophecy binds her. The ancestors guide her. Dr. Taran Grim, a young professor of occult studies, knows the written history of witches better than anyone in her field. And she should. She’s one of them. After a mysterious stranger arrives at her office inquiring about the mythical staff of Woden, Taran’s curiosity reveals a millennia-old prophesy directly tied to her. The answers wait in Bryden, England and the only person who can help her gain access to the hidden valley is the descendant of Ruhmactir, and a member of the shape-shifting Geri clan: Collens “Coll” Donovan. But the Donovans have secrets of their own, and Taran’s underdeveloped magic is wreaking strange havoc on her life. If she can’t manage her magic and strike a truce with Coll, they’ll fail to prevent the prophesied event known as Deireanhexe: the end of the hexen race."

The Steps Of Man Towards Civilization written by Georg Oesterdiekhoff and has been published by BoD – Books on Demand this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Social Science categories.

This book delivers an introduction to the theory programme called structure-genetic sociology. I developed this theory programme in the past 30 years. In the meantime, I have written ten books and numerous articles about the subject. The programme mainly bases on developmental psychology and has worked it out to a theory of the evolution of humankind. It encompasses a theory of social change and social evolution, a theory of the development of economy, society, culture, sciences, religion, morals, law, and manners. The fact of the anthropological evolution of humankind from lower, childlike anthropological stages to more elaborated stages is the most groundbreaking and fascinating fact in all social sciences and humanities. It is the only phenomenon within humanities and social sciences whose relevance and importance corresponds to the fact of biological evolution provided by Darwin ́s evolutionary theory. This fact forms the kernel of the entire theory programme. Structure-genetic sociology is the theoretical heir of the outstanding classical approaches such as the classical sociologies, the classical British anthropology, the ethnology of Lucien Lévy-Bruhl, the developmental psychology of Jean Piaget, and the philosophy of symbolic forms of Ernst Cassirer. We can understand these classical achievements only against the background of the more elaborated empirical foundations and theoretical structures of my structure-genetic sociology. It helps to verify, to correct, to develop, and to improve the best traditions of social sciences and humanities. Structure-genetic sociology formulates the essence of three hundred years of social sciences and humanities.

Highlander meets Seven in Nick Mamatas's Sabbath. The infamous eleventh-century warrior Hexen Sabbath is plucked from death and certain damnation by a being claiming to be an angel of the Lord, and finds himself dropped into contemporary Manhattan with no clothes, no weapons, no resources, and one mission—to track down and kill the living personifications of the Seven Deadly Sins before they bring about Armageddon. With time running out and his only ally a destitute art gallery owner, Sabbath must fight his way through New York's elite and challenge the world's most powerful man, or an eternity of suffering will be his, and our, only reward. Hellia lurks in the shadows between worlds, but the specter of the once-powerful hexen is the least of Taran Grim's worries. Something happened that day in Bryden. Something Taran failed to see. And Coll might be the one paying the price.

Hexenverfolgung Als Juristischer Prozess written by Christoph Gerst and has been published by V&R unipress GmbH this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with Law categories.

English summary: There are a lot of books about the witch hunts in 17th century Germany. But the legal process behind those incidents has never been described in a more precise manner than it is done in this book. The history told here is the one of the princedom of Brunswig-Wolfenbuettel (today the south eastern part of Lower Saxony) during the 17th century. The events are told according to the court records of that time which are broadly examined for the first time by the author. The main thesis which will be affirmed during the study is that the witch hunts were mainly seen as a judicial problem and a judicial process. Therefore they should be treated as such by modern historians, too. The author links his judicial experience with his historical expertise and by doing that reaches a synthesis of both disciplines never achieved before. This enables him to break loose the chains of canonized thoughts about the history of the witch hunts. German text.
