Finally, what the world has been waiting for - a big, oversized collection of Gerald Jabolonski's psychedelically underground, absurdly avant-garde comics! Jablonski has been comics' best-kept secret for decades, telling the tales of imposter ants, bear-faced grumps, and stoic farmers with pun-laden word balloons that wildly snake around the page. This book also includes a discussion with Gary Groth, the artist's first interview in print. Jablonski belongs in the ingeniously baffling auteur pantheon with John Cage, James Joyce, and Andy Warhol. Yes, you read that right.

"When I was 12, I didn't think I would get past ninth grade. When I was 14, I didn't think I would live to my twentieth birthday. For me to be here today is a dream beyond my comprehension." Set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War's aftermath, this memoir tells the story of Trinh Do, a boy fighting for survival in newly unified communist Vietnam. Trinh Do was born in Saigon in 1964. His father, a soldier in the South Vietnam Army, was taken to a re-education camp after the communist victory in 1975. His family was thrown out of their home, and Do took care of his mother and younger brothers. He struggled to stay in school; because of his father, Do faced constant prejudice from the communist administration. He was expelled for refusing to betray his classmates in 1978; soon after, his mother arranged for him to escape Vietnam in a fishing boat. After a perilous journey, he landed in Malaysia, where he spent six months in a refugee camp, and then made his way to the United States. His parents attempted a similar escape four years later and were lost to the South China Sea. This memoir tells the story of Do's generation coming of age in a brutal period of Vietnam's history and is illustrated with family photographs. Framed within a complex historical setting, it reveals the cruelty inflicted upon the populace by the Vietnamese communists for the purpose of "internal security." An intimate portrait of daily life under communist rule and an examination of the political and military situation, Do's memoir describes the propaganda and repression through the words of a Vietnamese schoolboy.

Offering fans an extensive look at the artist's own words throughout the past four decades, Springsteen on Springsteen brings together Q&A&–formatted articles, speeches, and features that incorporate significant interview material. No one is better qualified to talk about Springsteen than the man himself, and he's often as articulate and provocative in interviews and speeches as he is emotive onstage and in recordings. While many rock artists seem to suffer through interviews, Springsteen has welcomed them as an opportunity to speak openly, thoughtfully, and in great detail about his music and life. This volume starts with his humble beginnings in 1973 as a struggling artist and follows him up to the present, as Springsteen has achieved almost unimaginable wealth and worldwide fame. Included are feature interviews with well-known media figures, including Charlie Rose, Ted Koppel, Brian Williams, Nick Hornby, and Ed Norton. Fans will also discover hidden gems from small and international outlets, in addition to radio and TV interviews that have not previously appeared in print. This collection is a must-have for any Springsteen fan.

Life isn’t easy for Brooklyn Rideaux. Growing up in “the ward” in Houston, Texas, Brooklyn feels like her family is always evolving. First, her mother, Mama Betty, takes in a newborn whose mother couldn’t care for her anymore, and then Brooklyn’s three cousins come to live with her. And to top it off, Brooklyn’s sister, Pearl, just had a baby of her own. Add in Brooklyn’s elderly live in grandmother, and Brooklyn feels like she’s lost in the shuffle. After Brooklyn’s father, Tommy Boy, is sent to prison, Mama Betty does what she can to keep the family together. But the more Brooklyn feels pushed to the side and unwanted, the more she feels pressured to look for love in other places—often resulting in harsh consequences and a life full of drama. It’s not until after a failed suicide attempt that Brooklyn realizes she needs to change and then accepts the Lord into her life as her Savior. It is only through God’s help and love that Brooklyn will be able to overcome life’s obstacles and seek His ultimate plan for her.
