A lonely woman with far too many secrets… Greer Gunn feared for her life every day that she breathed the same air as her father. An unwanted reminder that he had no heir, Greer employed her greatest defense. She looked and learned, tucking away her clan’s secrets that she used silently to defend her people against her father’s inept leadership and to keep their enemies at bay. When her father’s death leaves her adrift among a clan that no longer wants her, Greer turns to her longtime friend for shelter. But it’s her friend’s brother who plagues her every waking and dreaming moment. Can Greer put aside the secrets she shares with him and find happiness with a man who was once her adversary? A man locked in his memories… Thormud Sinclair, future heir to the almighty Clan Sinclair, finds himself once more entangled with the beautiful but elusive Greer Gunn. Their past is one no one knows about, and one they both wish to forget. But that’s impossible when it was Greer’s uncle who slayed Thor’s best friend the first time they rode out to battle. Events surrounding that fateful day continue to divide them while ghosts from their pasts push them together now. A decade after losing his friend, Thor stands to lose even more to Clan Gunn. His heart. Can Thor put aside the memories he shares with her and discover whether fate truly had something else in store for them? A threat and questionable honor… When some secrets just won’t remain buried, a threat to Greer’s life leaves this pair with little choice but to get along. Events beyond their control call Thor’s honor and loyalty into question. While being forced together might turn these enemies to lovers, will the encroaching danger allow these tortured souls to find peace? The Clan Sinclair Legacy is Celeste Barclay’s STEAMY spinoff from The Clan Sinclair and The Highland Ladies. This highly in demand new series takes readers back to where Celeste began with the next generation of the Clan Sinclair. This STEAMY collection will continue to prove that in the Sinclair family, the men are strong, and the women are fierce.

This carefully crafted ebook: "Heroes of the Scottish Highlands: Ivanhoe, Waverley and Rob Roy (3 Unabridged Illustrated Classics)" is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. Ivanhoe is the story of one of the remaining Saxon noble families at a time when the nobility in England was overwhelmingly Norman. It follows the Saxon protagonist, Wilfred of Ivanhoe, who is out of favour with his father for his allegiance to the Norman king, Richard I. The story is set in 1194, after the failure of the Third Crusade, when many of the Crusaders were still returning to their homes in Europe. Rob Roy is a historical novel narrated by Frank Osbaldistone, the son of an English merchant. He travels first to the North of England, and subsequently to the Scottish Highlands, to collect a debt stolen from his father. On the way he encounters the larger-than-life title character, Rob Roy MacGregor. Though Rob Roy is not the lead character, his personality and actions are key to the novel's development. Waverley is set in the time of the Jacobite uprising of 1745 which sought to restore the Stuart dynasty in the person of Charles Edward Stuart, known as "Bonnie Prince Charlie". A young English dreamer and soldier, Edward Waverley, is sent to Scotland that year. He journeys north from his aristocratic family home, Waverley-Honour, in the south of England, first to the Scottish Lowlands and the home of family friend Baron Bradwardine, then into the Highlands and the heart of the rebellion and its aftermath. Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was a Scottish historical novelist, playwright and poet. He was the first modern English-language author to have a truly international career in his lifetime, with many contemporary readers in Europe, Australia, and North America.

Fifty years ago the New Guinea highlands were isolated and unknown to outsiders. As the highland peoples of New Guinea are among the last large groups to be brought into the world community, they are of major interest to ecologists, social anthropologists and cultural historians. This study synthesises previous anthropological research on the New Guinea highland peoples and cultures and demonstrates the interrelations of ecological adaptation, population and society. In describing, analysing and comparing the technology, culture and community life of peoples of the highland and the highland fringe, Professor Brown shows the special character of these societies, which have developed in isolation. In addition to examining the unique regional development of the New Guinea highland peoples, this book, a study in ecological and social anthropology, brings together theses two analytical fields and demonstrates their interrelationships.

Revised and Updated. Whisky is one of the world’s most revered spirits, with connoisseurs spending a great deal of money and time on the appreciation of rare expressions and limited edition bottles. In addition, many whisky connoisseurs travel direct to the source to see and experience the world’s best distilleries at first hand. Since the publication of the first edition in 2010, many changes have occurred in the world of whisky which are fully explored in this completely new edition. Over 200 of the 750 whiskies are updated, along with over 20 of the 38 features to reflect the ‘new world of whisky’, from the growing US single malt craft distillery movement (including Balcones in Texas), Japan (Yoichi),Taiwan (Kavalan), India (Paul John), Australia (Overeem), France (Warengem) and Sweden (Mackmyra, Spirit of Hven). Aimed at beginners as well as connoisseurs, the book encompasses everything you need to know to increase your appreciation of this complex and fascinating spirit. Iconic distilleries such as Lagavulin, Highland Park and Glenrothes in Scotland are fully explored alongside the bourbon innovators of Kentucky such as Woodford Reserve and Maker’s Mark. From global brands to tiny craft distillers, this book offers a comprehensive overview of the best dram the world over.
