O projeto História Oral de Volta Redonda realizado, em 1984, por iniciativa do Conselho Municipal de Cultura de Volta Redonda, foi patrocinado pelo poder público municipal. Esse projeto possibilitou a reconstrução histórica pelo registro de entrevistas da memória social de Volta Redonda. Naquele momento, havia pouco mais de quarenta anos da chegada dos primeiros trabalhadores para iniciar a construção da Usina e da Cidade do Aço e os principais protagonistas - fazendeiros, comerciantes, operários, engenheiros e profissionais liberais -, pioneiros da história da cidade e da Usina, estavam ainda vivos. Os entrevistados puderam então registrar suas preciosas memórias daquela epopeia social da construção da Cidade do Aço que representou um divisor de águas na economia nacional, pela construção da Companhia Siderúrgica, considerada base fundamental do desenvolvimento industrial brasileiro. O resultado final desse esforço de registro de depoimentos foi um riquíssimo acervo de informações sobre Volta Redonda, a partir de diferentes experiências sociais vividas por seus protagonistas. Este rico material da memória social da cidade, com valor informativo e ao mesmo tempo simbólico, pode agora ser compartilhado após 40 anos da realização do Projeto História Oral de Volta Redonda que estabeleceu como objetivo registrar os depoimentos em fitas e ao mesmo tempo ampliar o acesso da população a estes depoimentos. Para tal, fez-se uma parceria com a Rádio Nacional, na qual o Programa “Memória de Volta Redonda” realizava, semanalmente, entrevistas, que eram gravadas ao vivo.

In An Overview of the Pre-suppression Society of Jesus in Spain, Patricia W. Manning offers a survey of the Society of Jesus in Spain from its origins in Ignatius of Loyola’s early preaching to the aftereffects of its expulsion. Rather than nurture the nascent order, Loyola’s homeland was often ambivalent. His pre-Jesuit freelance sermonizing prompted investigations. The young Society confronted indifference and interference from the Spanish monarchy and outright opposition from other religious orders. This essay outlines the order’s ministerial and pedagogical activities, its relationship with women and with royal institutions, including the Spanish Inquisition, and Spanish members’ roles in theological debates concerning casuistry, free will, and the immaculate conception.
