Por primera vez se traza una historia de la edición en Colombia. Teniendo como punto de partida la llegada de la primera imprenta al Nuevo Reino de Granada y extendiéndose hasta mediados del siglo xix del nuevo régimen republicano, esta obra reconstruye el entramado que da coherencia a un panorama editorial. A través de distintos periodos tipográficos, las experiencias y expectativas individuales y compartidas fueron ampliando el campo de la cultura política impresa y el mundo de las relaciones socioculturales y educativas, modelando la percepción de intereses y el desarrollo de ideologías. Agentes de lo impreso y coyunturas políticas que alentaron o restringieron sus prácticas dan sentido a una actividad editorial que se ligó al ejercicio estatal y, de manera entrelazada, a la marcha de la opinión pública, la transmisión de ideas y la producción de conocimientos.

This book contributes to bridge the gap between different scholarly communities interested in the entanglements of culture and politics in the international arena.
