La razón por la que la Sociedad Estatal para Exposiciones Internacionales, responsable del Pabellón de España en Expo Shanghái 2010, ha promovido como unos de sus principales programas la realización y edición de este libro, simultáneamente publicado en chino por la editorial de literatura popular y en español por Siglo XXI, merece una breve explicación. Cinco escritores chinos cuentan España. Una iniciativa, bendecida por vientos favorables desde el comienzo del viaje que juntos realizaron meses atrás por nuestro país, de Barcelona a Málaga, con la intención de cubrir la carencia —esa sí, inexplicable— de un libro de viajes sobre la España contemporánea publicado en China.
