A lo largo de diez capítulos se desgranan los principales procesos y acontecimientos de esta región desde los orígenes históricos, pasando por la época clásica, los sultanatos clancentristas, la colonización, la independencia y la creación de la República de Somalia, el régimen socialista, la guerra civil y los intentos de reconstrucción estatal de las últimas décadas. Este libro nos da a conocer los procesos históricos de los pueblos somalíes para entender cuál es la situación actual del país. Pablo Arconada Ledesma es licenciado en Historia, máster en Relaciones Internacionales y Estudios Africanos y doctor en Historia Contemporánea por la Universidad de Valladolid. Actualmente es profesor de Historia Contemporánea en la misma universidad y está especializado en la historia de Somalia y el Cuerno de África. Es miembro fundador del Observatorio de Estudios Africanos.
