Esta obra aborda alguns dos diversos modos de entrecruzamento entre a História, a História da Arte e a Arte, e é resultado das conferências, mesas redondas e discussões realizadas durante o I Simpósio de História e Arte, ocorrido em Curitiba em agosto de 2012. O evento, organizado pelo grupo de pesquisa Núcleo de Artes Visuais (navis/cnpq) em parceria com a linha de pesquisa Intersubjetividade e Pluralidade do Programa de Pós-Graduação em História da Universidade Federal do Paraná (pghis/ufpr), buscou um intercâmbio teórico e historiográfico com pesquisadores de diversos Programas de Pós-Graduação do país, fomentando o debate interdisciplinar. A programação foi financiada pela Capes, envolvendo conferências e mesas temáticas realizadas ao longo de três dias por especialistas na relação entre Arte, História e Visualidade. A partir da concretização do evento, diversos conferencistas, palestrantes e moderadores propuseram-se a redigir os textos que compõem esta publicação.
