Historias del cuerpo explora la complejidad y la ambigüedad de las historias de vida de un grupo de mujeres que ejercen la prostitución. Este texto es una mirada crítica y una reinterpretación de una población paradójicamente ya investigada, que genera mucha curiosidad y ha sido objeto de representaciones múltiples, pero poco conocida a profundidad en los escenarios que la envuelven. Esta obra hace una aproximación a la comprensión de la vida ordinaria de las personas en un entorno clandestino y estigmatizado. Durante dieciocho meses –con entrevistas en profundidad, trabajos de observación, investigación documental y la aplicación de una encuesta durante–, se llevó a cabo la investigación en dos prostíbulos la localidad de Santa Fe en Bogotá y, de forma muy cercana, con cinco mujeres que ejercen la prostitución y que son madres; y de manera más superficial con otras dieciséis mujeres. Este libro propone una mirada que rompe con la perspectiva masculina para poner en primer plano la voz y las experiencias de quienes viven el oficio de la prostitución y, además, reconoce las múltiples dimensiones y facetas de estas mujeres, más allá de la visión ‘miserabilista’.
