It has been taught in schools and colleges that the Hindus were not indigenous people in India, their predecessors came from a foreign land lying either in Central Europe or Central Asia, Sanskrit was an offspring of some other foreign tounge, the Indian Aryans did not cross the valley of the five rivers in the punjab at the time of composition of the Rgveda and the Civilization of Hindus was junior to those of the Egyptians, Greeks, Persians and the like. But a careful examination of the ancient sanskrit books will reveal that the entire history learnt by us in schools and colleges was basically wrong. Prof. Siddhantashastree, an eminent Sanskrit scholar, in this volume has made an attempt to present the correct history of India from the origin of human civilization till the starting point of the Kali Age.

The Vedic-Puranic literature as well as archaeological, geological, historical, linguistic, and literary accounts have been reviewed to establish the various cultures that evolved in ancient India from about 3500 BCE to the Mahabharata War (1450 BCE). The book describes various misconceptions, e.g., the myth about an Aryan invasion. The following markers are used to establish the dates and geographical locations of various cultures: (i) The rise in sea levels due to melting of land-based snow after the last Ice Age. (ii) Migration of the Dravidian people from the lost continent of Kumari Kandam that submerged under the Indian Ocean. (iii) The dates for the start of farming, use of kiln-baked bricks, domestication of horses, and metal working in the Indian subcontinent. (iv) The dates when Sarasvati River dried up and the Mahabharata War occurred. The book notes that asva-containing or rath-containing names could not have existed before horses were domesticated or chariots were in use. The book also notes that Mathura Krsna is different from Dwarka Krsna; the two are separated by more then 1000 years. During Mathura Krsna’s time, conflicts were settled by hand-to-hand combat or with the use of a mace. In contrast, during Dwarka Krsna’s time, metal arms were used.

The Srimad Bhagavata (or Srimad Bhagavatam) is one of the few main Puranas and a great Book on Bhakti (devotion). It consists of 18000 verses and is regarded as an encyclopedia of spiritual philosophy.Attributed to the sage Vyasa the Bhagavata (also Bhagavatam) illustrates religious truths with stories of ancient India’s saints seers and kings. The book also deals in part with the life of Krishna (which makes the book especially sacred to the Vaishnavas). The set consists of four volumes each with Devanagri Sanskrit and English translation mainly in the lines of Sridhara’s interpretation. The verses are numbered. A thorough introduction explains the methodology and outlook of Pauranika literature in respect to space time nature and man.Prologues are also included with each Skanda to further the reader’s understanding of the text.
