El miedo más atroz hizo presa en la población y las personas evitaban salir de sus casas una vez caía la noche; se formaron grupos de ciudadanos que realizaban batidas nocturnas portando armas cargadas con balas de plata para abatir a la bestia en cuanto se topasen con ella. Para aquellos que eran apresados y considerados culpables no existía clemencia. Muñoz Heras, ha realizado un minucioso estudio sobre todos estos casos que nos cuenta de una forma amena e inquietantemente apasionante en el libro que tiene entre sus manos.
