Mind Platter is a compilation of reflections on life as seen through the eyes of an educator, student, and human who experienced her early days in silence. It is written in the words of a woman who came from Lebanon to Canada at the age of sixteen and experienced what it was like to have fate push her to a place where she didn't belong. It is written in the voice of every person who has felt unheard, mistreated, misjudged, or unseen. The book contains over 200 one-page reflections on topics we encounter in our everyday lives: love, friendship, hurt, inspiration, respect, motivation, integrity, honesty, and more. Mind Platter is not about the words it contains, but what the reader makes of them. May this book give a voice to those who need one, be a crying shoulder for those who yearn for someone to listen, and inspire those who need a reminder of the power they have over their lives.

Dan and Carmen are hip, healthy and wealthy. They have their own companies, plenty of money and friends and are the proud parents of one year-old Luna . . . They live the cool life in Amsterdam, until beautiful and optimistic Carmen is diagnosed with breast cancer. With that their world transforms into a roller-coaster ride of doctors and hospitals. As his way of coping, the hedonistic Dan faithfully accompanies Carmen to her chemo and radiotherapy treatments, but spends his nocturnal hours crazily immersed in the nightlife and women of Amsterdam and Miami. Love Life is the account of a relationship and a terminal illness, devoid of fake sentiment and told with humour and deep humanity. And it is very much an ode to love. Singapore has been taken by many researchers as a fascinating living language policy and planning laboratory. Language and education policy in Singapore has been pivotal not only to the establishment and growth of schooling, but to the very project of nation building. Since their inception, ‘mother tongue’ policies have been established with two explicit goals. Firstly there is the development and training of human and intellectual capital for the expansion and networking of a Singaporean service and information economy. Secondly there is the maintenance of cultural heritage and values as a means for social cohesion and, indeed, the maintenance of community and regional social capital. These tasks have been fraught with tension and contradiction, both in relation to the conditions of rapid cultural, economic and political change in Asia and globally, but as well because of the tensions between the so called ‘world language English’ and Singapore’s three other official languages, Tamil, Malay and Mandarin. This has been complicated, of course, by the challenges of vibrant regional dialects and the emergence of Singlish as a powerful medium of community life.

Nationalism And Ethnic Conflict In Indonesia written by Jacques Bertrand and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Political Science categories.

Since 1998, which marked the end of the thirty-three-year New Order regime under President Suharto, there has been a dramatic increase in ethnic conflict and violence in Indonesia. In his innovative and persuasive account, Jacques Bertrand argues that conflicts in Maluku, Kalimantan, Aceh, Papua, and East Timur were a result of the New Order's narrow and constraining reinterpretation of Indonesia's 'national model'. The author shows how, at the end of the 1990s, this national model came under intense pressure at the prospect of institutional transformation, a reconfiguration of ethnic relations, and an increase in the role of Islam in Indonesia's political institutions. It was within the context of these challenges, that the very definition of the Indonesian nation and what it meant to be Indonesian came under scrutiny. The book sheds light on the roots of religious and ethnic conflict at a turning point in Indonesia's history.

Catatan Pinggir 3 written by Goenawan Mohamad and has been published by Tempo Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with categories.

Na Willa's days are spent happily in her little house in the alley, until, one day, Pak brings some news that will change her life forever... In this sequel to The Adventures of Na Willa (2019), our heroine Na Willa's days are still filled with excitement and simple joys: playing with her friends, reading new books, and singing along to the radio. And now Pak, her father, is back from sea! Pak takes Na Willa to school, goes for ice cream and paints the house. On the way home, I tell Pak all about my friends Asih, Eko and Endang. I tell him about Joko who speaks only Javanese, Gatot who never finishes his sentences, Sumi who cries every time she doesn't finish her colouring, and Sri who is always laughing at her. By the time I finish all these stories, Pak can't stop laughing. And while he rides, just like Mak, Pak loves to sing and make up his own songs. Mak often sings about the flowers in the garden - the roses and jasmine - but Pak makes up a song all about me and my friends. 'Willa, oh Willa, in her new school she has many friends! There is Gatot, Sumi, Ekoooo, Asih, Endang, Sriiiii, and Jokoooo!' Ahhhh, I love Pak's song.
