Going Home, Who Am I? By: Andrea L. Sherrell Lorelei has reached a crossroads in her life. As a moderately successful African American female paralegal with no higher education degree, she thought her life was complete until she returns to her Southern roots in North Carolina, and discovers the history of her ancestors and the sacrifices they made for their families and futures. Suddenly, she comes to realize that maybe there is more to life and thinks of returning to college to honor the sacrifices of those who came before—and possibly starting a family with the handsome brotha she meets on the beach. But it can be hard to start life anew when you’re already well established. Will she find the courage to force change when sometimes it’s easier to stay the course?

'A triumph of tone and, ultimately, of the imagination.' Guardian 'Strange and hilarious and so, so sharp.' Monica Heisey 'When a book reaches out and speaks to a reader so clearly, one can hardly do anything but recommend it in the highest terms.' Spectator A New Statesman, New Yorker and Financial Times Book of the Year. From one of the most celebrated imaginations in American literature, Lorrie Moore's new novel is a magic box of longing and surprise. High up in a New York City hospice, Finn sits with his beloved brother Max, who is slipping from one world into the next. But when a phone call summons Finn back to a troubled old flame, a strange journey begins, opening a trapdoor in reality. It will prompt a questioning of life and death, grief and the past, comedy and tragedy, and the diaphanous separations that lie between them all. 'Moore writes with such panache, such extraordinary perception and wit, that not a single sentence is wasted.' Elizabeth Day 'Witty, but never merely clever, and tender without sentimentality.' Hilary Mantel

This book was written from the REAL perspective of everyday men and women that struggle with finding peace in their home. No clinical sounding or Doctoral thesis was necessary to discuss what real people like you and I need to know. Stop paying the bills for drama to live in your home. A PLEA FOR CHANGE is here. Long time friends and Co-Authors Gregory Wright and Aaron Cox look at the real issues that divide men and women in today's relationships. They feel society has conditioned us how to think, act and look. They also believe mass media ploys are becoming more main stream than family values. The hearts of men and women in this society have been suppressed by emotional thinking. They ask the question "Is society REALLY interested in your well being and quality of life"? Is it true to say our emotions drive our wants, but needs are attached to the heart? Our chapters will also identify how our wants have taken priority and our needs have been put off until another day that will come too late, if at all. Please don't be offended or take anything personally, we had to keep it REAL. Along with some laughs this book guarantees to put you back on track for what's REALLY important and living the American dream and not the American theme. Do you REALLY want to know why I am not at home exposes key issues to why we REALLY don't want to be home.

My first experience of architecture, a nearly universal case, was that of the house I grew up in. A century old, black & white clapboard farmhouse out- side of Kingston, Ontario was where I called home. Having grown up and left it behind, I find I have developed a certain amount of nostalgia or home- sickness regarding my mostly positive memories and recurring dreams that take place there. The house is not lost, in fact my parents still live there, and I return several times each year to retrace my childhood rituals, sleep in my old room, dream in my old bed, eat, play and reminisce in my old home. I can return to my home, but not my childhood, and yet the two seem inseparable. This space houses my dreams and memories of childhood; floorboards, doorknobs, and wallpaper are all triggers for recollection, the ornamentation of the home is a connective entity into my past. As my parents grow older, they are finding they don't want to be so isolated, alone in a house too big for just the two of them. The possibility of them selling the house looms heavily on my mind. I don't want to lose this special place. This is a study of the way in which an individual becomes bound to architecture, psychologically and physically, using the home to which I feel so connected as a guide. I've grown apart from my house in the years since I moved out, and much of the connection has been broken. In place of this connection, at my return, there is a certain sense of the unfamiliar in this familiar space. How can I make this intangible connection both apparent and relevant to someone else?.
