Real Time Digital Control Applications is a compilation of papers presented at the Symposium on Real-Time Digital Control Applications, sponsored by the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) and the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), held in Guadalajara, Mexico. The event is organized to provide developing countries with the opportunity to gain insights -- from the sharing of ideas and experiences of experts from around the world to the rapid growth and development of applications of real-time digital control systems, which is considered as the basis of industrial revolution. The book presents and discusses the various scientific, industrial, and technical applications of real-time digital control systems. Applications in power generation, water, metal processing, cement, food, and manufacturing industries are shown. The text also covers applications in robotics, biomedicine, monitoring and failure detection, fuel optimization and heat control, adaptive process control, modeling, and computer software. Industrial engineers, scientists, economists, computer scientists, robotics experts, planners, and technicians will find this book invaluable.

Until recently B-spline curves and surfaces (NURBS) were principally of interest to the computer aided design community, where they have become the standard for curve and surface description. Today we are seeing expanded use of NURBS in modeling objects for the visual arts, including the film and entertainment industries, art, and sculpture. NURBS are now also being used for modeling scenes for virtual reality applications. These applications are expected to increase. Consequently, it is quite appropriate for The.N'U'R-BS Book to be part of the Monographs in Visual Communication Series. B-spline curves and surfaces have been an enduring element throughout my pro fessional life. The first edition of Mathematical Elements for Computer Graphics, published in 1972, was the first computer aided design/interactive computer graph ics textbook to contain material on B-splines. That material was obtained through the good graces of Bill Gordon and Louie Knapp while they were at Syracuse University. A paper of mine, presented during the Summer of 1977 at a Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers meeting on computer aided ship surface design, was arguably the first to examine the use of B-spline curves for ship design. For many, B-splines, rational B-splines, and NURBS have been a bit mysterious.

Machine Art In The Twentieth Century written by Andreas Broeckmann and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-12-23 with Art categories.

An investigation of artists' engagement with technical systems, tracing art historical lineages that connect works of different periods. “Machine art” is neither a movement nor a genre, but encompasses diverse ways in which artists engage with technical systems. In this book, Andreas Broeckmann examines a variety of twentieth- and early twenty-first-century artworks that articulate people's relationships with machines. In the course of his investigation, Broeckmann traces historical lineages that connect art of different periods, looking for continuities that link works from the end of the century to developments in the 1950s and 1960s and to works by avant-garde artists in the 1910s and 1920s. An art historical perspective, he argues, might change our views of recent works that seem to be driven by new media technologies but that in fact continue a century-old artistic exploration. Broeckmann investigates critical aspects of machine aesthetics that characterized machine art until the 1960s and then turns to specific domains of artistic engagement with technology: algorithms and machine autonomy, looking in particular at the work of the Canadian artist David Rokeby; vision and image, and the advent of technical imaging; and the human body, using the work of the Australian artist Stelarc as an entry point to art that couples the machine to the body, mechanically or cybernetically. Finally, Broeckmann argues that systems thinking and ecology have brought about a fundamental shift in the meaning of technology, which has brought with it a rethinking of human subjectivity. He examines a range of artworks, including those by the Japanese artist Seiko Mikami, whose work exemplifies the shift.

Computer Graphics written by Jonas Gomes and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-04-24 with Computers categories.

Computer Graphics: Theory and Practice provides a complete and integrated introduction to this area. The book only requires basic knowledge of calculus and linear algebra, making it an accessible introductory text for students. It focuses on conceptual aspects of computer graphics, covering fundamental mathematical theories and models and the inherent problems in implementing them. In so doing, the book introduces readers to the core challenges of the field and provides suggestions for further reading and studying on various topics. For each conceptual problem described, solution strategies are compared and presented in algorithmic form. This book, along with its companion Design and Implementation of 3D Graphics Systems, gives readers a full understanding of the principles and practices of implementing 3D graphics systems.

Dynamics Of Parallel Robots written by Sébastien Briot and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-06-22 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book starts with a short recapitulation on basic concepts, common to any types of robots (serial, tree structure, parallel, etc.), that are also necessary for computation of the dynamic models of parallel robots. Then, as dynamics requires the use of geometry and kinematics, the general equations of geometric and kinematic models of parallel robots are given. After, it is explained that parallel robot dynamic models can be obtained by decomposing the real robot into two virtual systems: a tree-structure robot (equivalent to the robot legs for which all joints would be actuated) plus a free body corresponding to the platform. Thus, the dynamics of rigid tree-structure robots is analyzed and algorithms to obtain their dynamic models in the most compact form are given. The dynamic model of the real rigid parallel robot is obtained by closing the loops through the use of the Lagrange multipliers. The problem of the dynamic model degeneracy near singularities is treated and optimal trajectory planning for crossing singularities is proposed. Lastly, the approach is extended to flexible parallel robots and the algorithms for computing their symbolic model in the most compact form are given. All theoretical developments are validated through experiments.

Advanced Computer Graphics written by Robert Douglas Parslow and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Computers categories.

Computer graphics is no longer merely a technique of promise. The case studies in this book prove that it is a technique which has already identified itself with progress in an astonishingly wide range of app lications, to the extent that it has been necessary to group many chapters into sections dealing with specific categories, such as the design of electrical circuits, civil engineering, architecture, nuclear and space science and text editing. In the last couple of years, computer graphics has blossomed out from the stage in which it was confined almost exclusively to the large scale industries of aircraft and automobile engineering. It has also developed additional advantages, mote than the simple idea of doing the same thing more quickly. Now the technique offers entirely new ways of doing old things, with consequent greater efficiency and accuracy; and it also brings a way of doing new things, which were previously not possible. In the introduction to their paper in Part 12, Armit and Forrest state: "We do not discuss those systems which are merely computer versions of existing design methods, but rather those systems which make use of techniques for design which are beyond the possibilities of conventional drafting." Similarly, Ranaweer3; and Leckie end their paper in Part 4 with the comment: "Thus the man and the machine can work as a team to arrive at a solution better than that which can be arrived at by either one alone".
