Seminar paper from the year 2019 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Management Styles, grade: A-, University College Dublin, language: English, abstract: The aim of this literature review essay is to outline the potential of global teams, along with highlighting possible obstacles in their cooperation and the subsequently moderating role of multicultural leaders to enhance the overall team performance. Global team members are characterized by their heterogeneity in language, origin, and culture and thus, have a great potential to increase the performance of international operating organizations significantly. Nevertheless, higher creativity through different mentalities and low groupthink could be impeded by cultural misunderstandings and language barriers. Multicultural leaders, who are identifying themselves with more than one culture, have the possibility to overcome these obstacles by enabling global teams to successfully cooperate. Cultural Intelligence, a global mindset and cross-cultural communication skills are required competencies on which multicultural leaders depend on in their roles as boundary spanner, bridge maker and blender.

Multicultural and multinational teams have become an important strategic and structural element of organizational work in our globalized world today. These teams are demonstrating their importance from the factory floors to the boardrooms of contemporary organizations. The emergence of multicultural teams is evident across a variety of organizations in the private, public, and civil society sectors. These developments have led to an increasing interest in the theory and practice of multicultural teams. Management educational and training programs are giving increasing attention to these developments. At the same time, there is emerging interest in research about and study of multicultural teams. This book emerged from our teaching, research, and consulting with multic- tural and diverse teams in multiple sectors over the last several years. In particular, we have developed and refined our ideas about the concepts in this book from teaching an advanced course called Effective Multicultural Teams in the Graduate Program at the School for International Training (SIT) in Vermont. We have learned from the rich background of students who are from, and have worked in, six con- nents, and who are, or plan to be, working in the public, educational, not-for-profit, and for-profit sectors. Additionally, we have engaged with a variety of teams through our consulting and training, providing consultation to teams in a variety of sectors and continents as they struggled to become more effective.

Academic Paper from the year 2018 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Miscellaneous, grade: 1,3, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Wirtschaftswissenschaften), language: English, abstract: Cross border activities of multinational companies face the problem of culture. The environment of international companies include several societies which may include very different cultures. Therefore, there is a very high probability that different cultures will clash during the activities of multinational. Due to the growth of multinational companies and the globalization of markets, it is necessary to constantly attract managers and employees that are suitable and able to adapt to the multicultural environment. Numerous statistics indicate that demographic diversity in the workplace is a worldwide trend. In the United States, for example, the current labour force is older, more gender balanced and contains more ethnic minorities than in past years. These workplace changes are projected to continue to the point where women will slightly outnumber men and where there will be equal numbers of white and non-white employees in the year 2050. The term "diversity" has been part of organizational and management literature for over twenty years. Indeed, the area is characterised by ambiguities, contradictions and uncertainties. This is why we are now more and more aware of its increasing importance in the private sector. In the context of this paper the effects of cultural diversity will be discussed along with the question, whether multiculturalism in international companies is the basis for better opportunities in competition to meet the challenges on a global scale. Another question that shall be answered is, to what extent cultural diversity management can lead to competitive economic advantages. For this purpose, the fundamental terms are interpreted first in the second chapter. The following chapter will address opportunities, risks and success factors, considering multiculturalism in international companies. In the last chapter, the stages of team development are illustrated using the "Tuckman Group Development Model".

Leadership And Culture written by Dr. Liana C Saenz and has been published by WestBow Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-07-16 with Business & Economics categories.

“Globalization is no longer a choice is a trend in everybody’s life. A global leader without cultural awareness and global leadership skills is not able to lead to his [her] full potential—not globally, not in today’s world.” Dr. Liana C Saenz. The success of today’s global leaders and organizations depends more than ever before on their levels of intercultural awareness, perspectives on diversity, and correct application of this knowledge. In that sense, global corporations, organizations, and multicultural teams have opportunities to develop strategies that provide better solutions, increase productivity, improve effective communication, build teams and communities, and naturally bring economic benefits. Global alliances and collaboration will play a major role in all economies in the next century, in particular, between East and West; then, the understanding of Chinese business leaders is probably more important than ever as America’s well-being and security, prosperity, and future are deeply affected by developments in Northeast Asia. The current lack of literature on the relationship between acculturation and leadership for Chinese business leaders in the United States allows this book and the introduction of the study “The Rapid Rise of Chinese Transformational Leadership: The Model for the Contemporary Chinese Business Leader” a unique perspective and the opportunity to establish a ground based on its empirical findings. This book provides well-researched insight into leadership, culture and a key economic leader in today’s world: Chinese business leaders, whose influence on the business, social, economic, and political landscapes cannot be underestimated.
