Ever since the Radia tapes were leaked, my wife has been extremely upset. I tried to reason with her. ‘Believe me,’ I said, ‘I did talk to Niira Radia. Is it my fault that my conversation with her has not been leaked?’ Often described as ‘the funniest ever writer to have come out of trans-Yamuna Delhi in the 75–77kg category’, G. Sampath launches a hilarious counter-offensive against perpetually offense-taking offensive people and issues in this small but potent volume. From Ajay Devgn’s nipples to his wife’s real estate ambitions, Arnab Goswami’s special powers to male virgins’ special problems, sari-obsessed women to pesticide-obsessed farmers, Sampath runs his vampire-like fingernails across the private obsessions and public frustrations of the Indian Everyman. Wily old genius that he is, where you expect him to draw blood, he draws a chuckle.

‘Australia First’ is a good slogan that has been adopted by several quite different political ideologies. This book deals with the movement that began in a small way before 1914, developed slowly from about 1936, and came to an abrupt and inglorious end in March 1942. It grew out of the Victorian Socialist Party and the Rationalist Association At first it attracted literary figures such as Xavier Herbert, Eleanor Dark, Miles Franklin. When it became heavily political, there were among its members and associates three former Communist Party members and one Nazi Party member; some worked for the Labor Party, some for the United Australia Party (later Liberal Party), while there were strong links with the Social Credit Party. One was a paid agent of the Japanese. Some were connected with Theosophy, some with Odinism, and in Victoria most were Irish Catholics with links to Archbishop Mannix and Sinn Fein.

Brian was raised on "the wrong side of the tracks" in inner-city Alabama. Now, at nineteen, with a troubled past and juvenile record, Brian struggles to earn a living and find a life purpose. When he journeys to New York on a chance trip, Brian meets and falls in love with Shannon; a bright eyed, aspiring actress from California. Brian returns to Alabama stirred by Shannon's courage and passion for life. With a new zest and reason for living, Brian is determined to turn himself into a man worthy of her love. Unable to afford college, Brian discovers the Os Guinness Scholarship, which provides free tuition to Pepperdine University for Irish students who desire to train for Ireland's ministry. With some innovative thinking, Brian fakes his Irish citizenry, accepts the scholarship, and moves to Southern California to attend school and pursue Shannon. However, when Brian visits Alabama, all the lies come crashing down and Brian comes face to face with a past he thought was finished. Now, Brian must make a choice: lose Shannon by spinning more lies and choosing vengeance in hopes of putting his past to rest. Or choose honesty and forgiveness and embrace a new life with the only woman he ever loved. Alabama Irish will make us sit back and laugh, then lay the book down and cry. But in the end, we'll be reminded that no matter our pasts, the possibility to find true love again is never lost. (This coming of age love story teaches readers the necessity of honesty and openness in the pursuit of loving, long-lasting relationships.)

Murder By The Bay written by Charles F. Adams and has been published by Quill Driver Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with History categories.

Murder has a long and distinguished history in San Francisco. The city and its Bay Area can stand proudly with Paris, London, and New York in the splendour of its misdeeds -- murders that have suspense, horror, audacity, and flair. The homicides chronicled in Murder by the Bay have been selected because a convergence of personality, circumstance, character, and geography makes them peculiarly San Franciscan. Each of these crimes illustrates an historic importance, each has impacted its times -- either in the course or application of the law or in the manner in which the affair revealed a shortcoming in society. They range from the Montgomery Street killing of James King of William, editor of the Daily Evening Bulletin, in 1856 to the sensational trial of early movie comedian Fatty Arbuckle who was accused of killing a showgirl at a party in the St. Francis Hotel to the shocking "City Hall Murders" in which former city supervisor Dan White killed Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk. Most were solved, some were not. They are murders that fascinated the city and frequently the country, sometimes for weeks, often for years and even decades.

Balm In Gilead written by M. K. Hammond and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-05-01 with Religion categories.

With 'Balm in Gilead', M. K. Hammond guides us through the life and the writings of the prophet Jeremiah recorded in the biblical book that bears his name. Soon after the Babylonians conquer Judah and appoint a new king in Jerusalem, Hammond notes, the prophet begins to keep a diary. Concurrently, he writes letters to his uncle Shallum, who is deported to Babylon with the first group of Hebrew captives. In what Hammond calls "flashbacks," Jeremiah records memories from his early childhood, recalls his first temple sermon (delivered when he was only seventeen years old), and recounts episodes from the turbulent reigns of previous kings. His writings tell of sinful behavior he sees all around him, including idol worship, corruption among princes and priests, adultery, child sacrifice, and cannibalism. Hammond explores the tension between, on the one hand, Jeremiah's powerful sermons illustrated with striking visual signs and displays and, on the other hand, Jeremiah's agony over his call to be a prophet to whom no one listens. Jeremiah agonizes over his call because his enemies (including his own brothers) try to kill him. At times, even the Lord, it seems, has deserted him. Yet, Hammond asserts, the prophet finds hope when a new governor is appointed in Judah, and when his uncle tells him of the exiled Jews' loyalty to their God, even at risk of their lives. Jeremiah expresses hope for a new covenant with God, new leadership by faithful kings and priests, and return of all God's people to Zion.

The 48 Laws Of Power written by Robert Greene and has been published by Penguin this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000-09-01 with Self-Help categories.

Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this multi-million-copy New York Times bestseller is the definitive manual for anyone interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control – from the author of The Laws of Human Nature. In the book that People magazine proclaimed “beguiling” and “fascinating,” Robert Greene and Joost Elffers have distilled three thousand years of the history of power into 48 essential laws by drawing from the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, and Carl Von Clausewitz and also from the lives of figures ranging from Henry Kissinger to P.T. Barnum. Some laws teach the need for prudence (“Law 1: Never Outshine the Master”), others teach the value of confidence (“Law 28: Enter Action with Boldness”), and many recommend absolute self-preservation (“Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally”). Every law, though, has one thing in common: an interest in total domination. In a bold and arresting two-color package, The 48 Laws of Power is ideal whether your aim is conquest, self-defense, or simply to understand the rules of the game.
