Increased understanding of adversaries, their operating environ. and the relevant host population is important to conduct complex operations (incl. stability, security, transition and reconstruction operations), to devise effective terrorist countermeasures, to support strategic commun., and to aid intell analysis and planning for contingencies. This report: Reviews and re-evaluates previous and current attempts in DoD to assess host population social structures, adversarial thinking styles and patterns of behavior; Identify and assess current relevant S&T investment plans to include research, analysis, tools and techniques; and Identify how relevant approaches, analysis, methods, and technologies can be incorporated into U.S. military capabilities and systems. This book, edited and authored by a closely collaborating network of social scientists and psychologists, recasts typical research topics in these fields into the language of nonlinear, dynamic and complex systems. The aim is to provide scientists with different backgrounds - physics, applied mathematics and computer sciences - with the opportunity to apply the tools of their trade to an altogether new range of possible applications. At the same time, this book will serve as a first reference for a new generation of social scientists and psychologists wishing to familiarize themselves with the new methodology and the "thinking in complexity".

Simulate realistic human motion in a virtual world with an optimization-based approach to motion prediction. With this approach, motion is governed by human performance measures, such as speed and energy, which act as objective functions to be optimized. Constraints on joint torques and angles are imposed quite easily. Predicting motion in this way allows one to use avatars to study how and why humans move the way they do, given specific scenarios. It also enables avatars to react to infinitely many scenarios with substantial autonomy. With this approach it is possible to predict dynamic motion without having to integrate equations of motion -- rather than solving equations of motion, this approach solves for a continuous time-dependent curve characterizing joint variables (also called joint profiles) for every degree of freedom. - Introduces rigorous mathematical methods for digital human modelling and simulation - Focuses on understanding and representing spatial relationships (3D) of biomechanics - Develops an innovative optimization-based approach to predicting human movement - Extensively illustrated with 3D images of simulated human motion (full color in the ebook version)

Most importantly, it highlights the shift in worldview leaders must make to deliver greater success. The book outlines the author's highly successful "multi-dimensional, process approach" to transformation, addressing change at the organizational, team, relational, and personal levels. It thoroughly addresses leadership mindset and behavioral modeling, culture change, and large systems implementations, providing best practices developed over three decades of successful consulting to Fortune 500 executives. Written for executives and managers, OD consultants, change managers, project managers, and change consultants, this must read book provides the foundation for successful change leadership and consulting. Based on thirty years of action research with Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, the military, and large non-profit global organizations Provides worksheets, tools, case examples, and assessments that you can immediately apply to all types of change efforts Contrasts two vastly different leadership approaches to change, and reveals why only one works Provides solutions for turning employee resistance into commitment Outlines the common mistakes in change and how you can avoid them Reveals the differences between transformation and other types of change so you can build strategies that really get results Beyond Change Management advances the field of change leadership, and takes the concept of managing change in organizations to a whole new level. Einstein S Business written by Dawson Church and has been published by Elite Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-01-10 with Business & Economics categories.

At this threshold of our species' evolution there is an increasing recognition that new approaches are needed to create the radical changes necessary for humanity to survive on this planet. Business is not exempt-it's at the center of this radical change. Business can even be the lynchpin around which the rest of social transformation takes place, and can lead the way as we relinquish our addiction to control and to the extreme competitiveness that has paralyzed us and prevented us from uniting to address the urgency of the crisis at hand. In this anthology, some of the best-selling business authors of today infuse their visions, experiences, and insights into the ongoing conversation about how to find solutions to seemingly impossible challenges. The guiding principles for the book are derived from the inspiring, timeless wisdom of Albert Einstein, a man who modeled the ability to be a channel for intuitive, imaginative, and collective intelligence. From that realm we can draw on collective intelligence to re-invent ourselves and transform business.
