Bestselling author Michael Shermer's exploration of science and morality that demonstrates how the scientific way of thinking has made people, and society as a whole, more moral From Galileo and Newton to Thomas Hobbes and Martin Luther King, Jr., thinkers throughout history have consciously employed scientific techniques to better understand the non-physical world. The Age of Reason and the Enlightenment led theorists to apply scientific reasoning to the non-scientific disciplines of politics, economics, and moral philosophy. Instead of relying on the woodcuts of dissected bodies in old medical texts, physicians opened bodies themselves to see what was there; instead of divining truth through the authority of an ancient holy book or philosophical treatise, people began to explore the book of nature for themselves through travel and exploration; instead of the supernatural belief in the divine right of kings, people employed a natural belief in the right of democracy. In The Moral Arc, Shermer will explain how abstract reasoning, rationality, empiricism, skepticism--scientific ways of thinking--have profoundly changed the way we perceive morality and, indeed, move us ever closer to a more just world.

Knowledge is power. Real truth is freedom. Freedom is what our Founding Fathers wanted to create as the beacon of light to the world in 1776. America was to be the example of what humanity could be. Was that really achieved? The Greatest Transition in Human History tells the real story of America over the past 200 years - the heartbreak, false-flag wars, hidden technology, power, corruption, and manipulation. Does the American citizen have real Freedom as the great Constitution and Bill of Rights intended? The Greatest Transition in Human History is the real emotion story of great Americans and patriots standing up for these great rights. These freedoms were taken for granted by so many - for many fell asleep and did not participate as much as we should have, including myself for many years. No more, for I work for humanity, and freedom. I want that real Freedom Bell to ring for all. For in the oath to a military person sworn in to our armed forces, they are to fight any enemy both foreign and domestic. We need a coherent picture of our world. Life’s realities won’t let us ignore its fundamental questions, but with so many opposing views, how will we choose answers that are reliable? In this series of books, David Gooding and John Lennox offer a fair analysis of religious and philosophical attempts to find the truth about the world and our place in it. By listening to the Bible alongside other leading voices, they show that it is not only answering life’s biggest questions—it is asking better questions than we ever thought to ask. In Book 1 – Being Truly Human, Gooding and Lennox address issues surrounding the value of humans. They consider the nature and basis of morality, compare what morality means in different systems, and assess the dangerous way freedom is often devalued. What should guide our use of power? What should limit our choices? And to what extent can our choices keep us from fulfilling our potential?

Concept Of Freedom written by Anselm Kentus Chijioke Eke MSP and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-08-19 with Religion categories.

Freedom comes with it a level of responsibility; it places a reasonable obligation on the individual. Freedom ought to make the individual humble enough to know and accept his/her place in the order of things. It helps one to appreciate one’s humanity and also to recognize one’s capabilities and limitations. Freedom is a gift from God with which the individual ought to enter into a relationship with the Creator; it should not be a reason to abandon the Creator. I am convinced that the proper use of freedom will surely make the world a better place and bring glory to God who is the source and summit of our freedom and ultimately of our existence. I do not pretend to have the answers to the many questions that I have already raised neither do I lay any claim to having the intention to exhaust all the questions that could be posed in relation to the issue of freedom. I am simply setting out on a journey of exploration of freedom and I am hoping that by the end of the journey I would have been able to arrive at some point of clarity to myself and hopefully others who would read this work as to what constitutes true freedom and in whom this true freedom could be found. I will sure be operating from my Christian background and hope that at the end I would have been able to prove like St. John Paul II once said: “Freedom consists not in doing what we like, but in having the right to do what is right

The Magna Carta Of Humanity written by Os Guinness and has been published by InterVarsity Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-05-11 with Religion categories.

In these stormy times, voices from all fronts call for change. But what kind of revolution brings true freedom to both society and the human soul? Cultural observer Os Guinness explores the nature of revolutionary faith, contrasting between secular revolutions such as the French Revolution and the faith-led revolution of ancient Israel. He argues that the story of Exodus is the highest, richest, and deepest vision for freedom in human history. It serves as the master story of human freedom and provides the greatest sustained critique of the abuse of power. His contrast between "Paris" and "Sinai" offers a framework for discerning between two kinds of revolution and their different views of human nature, equality, and liberty. Drawing on the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, Guinness develops Exodus as the Magna Carta of humanity, with a constructive vision of a morally responsible society of independent free people who are covenanted to each other and to justice, peace, stability, and the common good of the community. This is the model from the past that charts our path to the future. "There are two revolutionary faiths bidding to take the world forward," Guinness writes. "There is no choice facing America and the West that is more urgent and consequential than the choice between Sinai and Paris. Will the coming generation return to faith in God and to humility, or continue to trust in the all sufficiency of Enlightenment reason, punditry, and technocracy? Will its politics be led by principles or by power?" While Guinness cannot predict our ultimate fate, he warns that we must recognize the crisis of our time and debate the issues openly. As individuals and as a people, we must choose between the revolutions, between faith in God and faith in Reason alone, between freedom and despotism, and between life and death.
