Images Of Sorrow Visions Of Hope written by J. Randy Hall and has been published by Xulon Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-07 with Religion categories.

If you could lead a life free of sorrow, would you? You cannot, of course. But even if we did have the choice, would we deny one of the deepest set of emotions that our Creator has placed within us? This book is about grief, not so much as it relates to death but about how it is a meaningful, even enriching, aspect of life. This is not a textbook. There are good ones that examine the process and stages of grief. Images of Sorrow, Visions of Hope is a book of stories and anecdotes from the author's life as well as iconic scenes from our culture that add flesh, bone, and life to the useful structure of the stages of grief. The hope is that the words contained here will create an inner and outer dialogue about sorrow-one of life's most individual, yet common experiences. J. Randy Hall serves as the pastor of Fairmont Presbyterian Church in Lexington, North Carolina. He and his wife, Jane, a school psychologist, have four children-Zach, Daniel, Anna, and Alex. They live in a log home that Randy designed and built. Randy, in addition to living through his own sorrows, has offered pastoral care to those in sorrow for over thirty years. He has led workshops and seminars on the subject for churches, helping organizations, crisis ministries, and adoption agencies. Randy holds degrees from Appalachian State University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Having served churches in Chapel Hill, Elizabeth City, and Hickory, North Carolina, he has pastored Fairmont for seventeen years. Mission work involving vocational training in sewing machine repair has taken him to Haiti and Ghana. Hobbies include travel, golf, exercise, dancing, and being with good friends who know what and when to take things seriously, including themselves.

Learn how to face your fears and and live into courageous and faithful action with Fear Not. Americans live in a culture of fear, whether we know it or care to admit it. Who will attack us next? Who will steal our jobs? Whose relationship undermines the sanctity of mine? In an era when manipulative messaging is unavoidable, politicians, media, marketers, and even faith leaders play on our fears and use them to win elections, gain attention, sell products, and influence the way you view those around you — all in the name of claiming power. Fear Not subverts insidious fear-based messaging with the creation of courageous communities committed to truth-telling, grace, hope, and love. Drawing on decades as a community-building and church growth leader for churches and nonprofit organizations, Eric H.F. Law shares practical resources and processes for bringing diverse people together to build authentic relationships and share their truth. Each chapter includes suggested activities and questions for discussion and tips for creating small discussion groups.

The first major visual and cultural exploration of the legacy of La Malinche, simultaneously reviled as a traitor to her people and hailed as the mother of Mexico An enslaved Indigenous girl who became Hernán Cortés's interpreter and cultural translator, Malinche stood at center stage in one of the most significant events of modern history. Linguistically gifted, she played a key role in the transactions, negotiations, and conflicts between the Spanish and the Indigenous populations of Mexico that shaped the course of global politics for centuries to come. As mother to Cortés's firstborn son, she became the symbolic progenitor of a modern Mexican nation and a heroine to Chicana and Mexicana artists. Traitor, Survivor, Icon is the first major publication to present a comprehensive visual exploration of Malinche's enduring impact on communities living on both sides of the US-Mexico border. Five hundred years after her death, her image and legacy remain relevant to conversations around female empowerment, indigeneity, and national identity throughout the Americas. This lavish book establishes and examines her symbolic import and the ways in which artists, scholars, and activists through time have appropriated her image to interpret and express their own experiences and agendas from the 1500s through today.

The Tormenting Factor written by Ima Survivor and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-04-28 with Biography & Autobiography categories.

This author's biography is an ongoing account of abuse, rape, and torment. It is written with a provocative tool of undercurrents that substantiate how generational curses are formed. The factual scenario of family disgruntling bears witness to the learned behavior that causes extreme anxiety and emotional torment. This story is not about revenge or judgment. It is simply a chronicle to give readers a comparative view of themselves and their families with imminent clarity. Although the original purpose of this book was to share deep secrets with the author's children, the crux of these secrets had already influenced too many circumstances and characteristics of her progeny. Repeated family behavior had developed into curses that were passed from generation to generation. If relationships are your enemy, and you have somehow moved from one abusive relationship to another, you will learn why you continue to enter these same types of relationships. If your body is twisted due to bitterness and unforgiveness, you will learn how attitude promotes pain. If you are haunted by shadows of your past, this book may help you understand and deal with your emotions. No one is exempt from some type of family transference. Emotional effects may go unnoticed by others, although they alter our lives and usually require resolution. There is a heavily populated audience of esoteric families who are crying out everywhere because they have been hurt. If you have experienced abuse, Ima's biography may be difficult to read. Humor and faith are both excellent coping skills to help deal with the dark side. This book contains enough tincture (an admixture of humor) to help cope with emotions as readers experience the heaviness of this story. Laughter is the morphine that will numb your pain until your resolution comes.

The Devil S Chosen written by Robert W. Barker and has been published by iUniverse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-03-21 with Fiction categories.

"Faster, faster come the German shouts. Louder and more impatient. Into the ravine they run. 'Schnell! Schnell!' No time to think. No time to escape. Fear chokes their hearts. Breathing comes quick and shallow. No place to hide. No place to go but down the bank, down into nature's quiet embrace, open to greet them, open to enfold them." The brutality and terror of the Holocaust is chillingly brought back to life in this series of fictional accounts from author Robert Barker. SS officer Hans Grber, the sometimes confused and troubled perpetrator, acts as our guide by connecting the scenes in the different stories. With a focus on the stark, personal decisions made by the perpetrators and victims alike, The Devil's Chosen raises disturbing and enduring questions. Do we summon the bravery to stand against evil, or do we abandon all to save ourselves? Do we have the right and the power to forgive the silent bystanders as well as those responsible? What is our role? The Devil's Chosen brings the actions and decisions of both the victims and the perpetrators into focus against the unforgiving background of terror and death.

Elie Wiesel And The Art Of Storytelling written by Rosemary Horowitz and has been published by McFarland this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-11-01 with Literary Criticism categories.

Elie Wiesel is a master storyteller with the ability to use storytelling as a form of activism. From his landmark memoir Night to his novels and numerous retellings of Hasidic legends, Wiesel’s literature emphasizes storytelling, and he frequently refers to himself as a storyteller rather than an author or historian. In this work, essays examine Wiesel’s roots in Jewish storytelling traditions; influences from religious, folk, and secular sources; education; Yiddish background; Holocaust experience; and writing style. Emphasized throughout is Wiesel’s use of multiple sources in an effort to reach diverse audiences.
