Book 3 Warning: This book contains an epic adventure that places three fourth graders in extreme danger. Being Senshi Warriors, or fourth graders, like Hiro, Bryan, and Zahra isn't easy. Keeping their secret identities from their classmates is proving to be impossible. In this third book of the series (whoa, it's a trilogy!) our heroes battle the strongest enemy they have ever faced, complete an out-of-this-world science project, and, yes, there's even romance. The universe is about to get a lot more interesting! About the Author: Hi! My name's Hiroshi and I'm a kid, just like you. I'm fascinated with the internet, use my smartphone to create all types of content, and love spending time with friends and family across the globe. I started writing as a way to address issues of bullying and diversity that I and others around me have experienced. My Inspiration: I am inspired by an appreciation of culture and diversity all around me. We are each different in some way. I am different. I think that differences are what make each of us unique, though, and things we should be proud of. Unfortunately, some kids make fun of others for such differences. My books are meant to help celebrate the wonderful ways in which every kid should be proud of who they are, where they come from, and the contribution they make to the world around them. I am lucky enough to have parents that celebrate the many ways that I am unique. My mom is Japanese, and my dad is Mexican-American, and they have struggled to ensure I am proud of all aspects of my culture. They continue to send me to Mexico and Japan to spend time with grandparents during summer breaks, even though my dad says it costs way too much to do so. The result is that they have created someone who is confident, proud, and capable of accomplishing anything I put my mind to. For example, wanting to write a book series about diverse characters confronting any obstacle in front of them by working together. Series Theme: Throughout this series you'll read about epic stories related to friendship, teamwork, empathy, diversity, and self confidence. What more could any kid ask for? This second book has been inspired by global events and the social justice efforts. America is a symbol of hope for many around the world. It's a land of opportunity founded on important values. Our Declaration of Independence states, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they're endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." For that to be a reality for all Americans, we must work toward a future that honors and respects all. It's up to us.

“His ideas will help anyone who has the courage to understand that a real education must go beyond filling in circles on a standardized test form.” —Rafe Esquith, New York Times-bestselling author of Teach Like Your Hair’s on Fire Can playing a game lead to world peace? If it’s John Hunter’s World Peace Game, it just might. In Hunter’s classroom, students take on the roles of presidents, tribal leaders, diplomats, and military commanders. Through battles and negotiations, standoffs and summits, they strive to resolve a sequence of many-layered, interconnected scenarios, from nuclear proliferation to tribal warfare. Now, Hunter shares inspiring stories from over thirty years of teaching the World Peace Game, revealing the principles of successful collaboration that people of any age can apply. He offers not only a forward-thinking report from the frontlines of American education, but also a generous blueprint for a world that bends toward cooperation rather than conflict. In this deeply hopeful book, a visionary educator shows us what the future of education can be. “The World Peace Game devised by fourth-grade teacher Hunter has spread from a classroom in 1978 to a documentary, a TED Talk, the Pentagon, and now finally a book, in which he describes the ways his students have solved political and ecological crises that still loom large in the world of adults . . . Hunter’s optimism is infectious.” —Publishers Weekly “Inspired, breath-of-fresh-air reading.” — Kirkus Reviews “Hunter proves the value of ‘slow teaching’ in this important, fascinating, highly readable resource for educators and parents alike.” — Booklist

Routledge Handbook Of Ecocultural Identity written by Tema Milstein and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-05-01 with Social Science categories.

The Routledge Handbook of Ecocultural Identity brings the ecological turn to sociocultural understandings of self. The editors introduce a broad, insightful assembly of original theory and research on planetary positionalities in flux in the Anthropocene – or what in this Handbook cultural ecologist David Abram presciently renames the Humilocene, a new “epoch of humility.” Forty international authors craft a kaleidoscopic lens, focusing on the following key interdisciplinary inquiries: Part I illuminates identity as always ecocultural, expanding dominant understandings of who we are and how our ways of identifying engender earthly outcomes. Part II examines ways ecocultural identities are fostered and how difference and spaces of interaction can be sources of environmental conviviality. Part III illustrates consequential ways the media sphere informs, challenges, and amplifies particular ecocultural identities. Part IV delves into the constitutive power of ecocultural identities and illuminates ways ecological forces shape the political sphere. Part V demonstrates multiple and unspooling ways in which ecocultural identities can evolve and transform to recall ways forward to reciprocal surviving and thriving. The Routledge Handbook of Ecocultural Identity provides an essential resource for scholars, teachers, students, protectors, and practitioners interested in ecological and sociocultural regeneration. The Routledge Handbook of Ecocultural Identity has been awarded the 2020 Book Award from the National Communication Association's (USA) Environmental Communication Division.

* Newbery Honor Book * #1 New York Times Bestseller * Winner of the Schneider Family Book Award * Wall Street Journal Best Children's Books of the Year * New York Public Library's 100 Books for Reading and Sharing An exceptionally moving story of triumph against all odds set during World War II, from the acclaimed author of Fighting Words, and for fans of Fish in a Tree and Number the Stars. Ten-year-old Ada has never left her one-room apartment. Her mother is too humiliated by Ada’s twisted foot to let her outside. So when her little brother Jamie is shipped out of London to escape the war, Ada doesn’t waste a minute—she sneaks out to join him. So begins a new adventure for Ada, and for Susan Smith, the woman who is forced to take the two kids in. As Ada teaches herself to ride a pony, learns to read, and watches for German spies, she begins to trust Susan—and Susan begins to love Ada and Jamie.
