Im Winter 2012 habe ich in Äthiopien in der Danakil Wüste einen brutalen Überfall mit sinnlosen Entführungen und einem Massaker erlebt und überlebt. Dieses Erlebnis hat einiges in mir verändert. Und diese Veränderung ist der Grund, warum ich das Bedürfnis habe dieses Buch zu schreiben. Ich möchte von mir erzählen - wer ich bin, welche Reise ich unternommen habe. Was ich auf dieser Reise erlebt habe - und die Folgen aus diesem Erlebnis. Ich möchte andere Reisende sensibilisieren, das es beim Reisen nicht nur um das "beobachten einer anderen Welt" geht sondern das sich jeder Reisende den "Regeln dieser anderen Welt" bewußt sein muss. Das unser Weltverständnis nicht überall Gültigkeit hat. Durch diesen Überfall habe ich auch verstanden das ich ein Schicksal habe. Das ich dieses Schicksal aber auch selbst in die Hand nehmen kann. Diese Erfahrung möchte ich der anderen "Zielgruppe" mitgeben. Am Anfang von diesem Buch werde ich beschreiben, wer ich eigentlich bin. Anschließend werde ich von den ersten Wochen in Äthiopien berichten. Dies war für mich eine sehr interessante Reise. Ich hoffe, dass ich dem Leser in diesem Teil mitnehmen kann. Absichtlich habe ich diesen Teil sehr nüchtern erzählt, da das Buch kein Roman werden soll - dieser Teil aber zu diesem Buch unbedingt dazugehört. Im nächsten Teil werde ich von dem Überfall berichten, als ich andere Werte und Glaubensansätze erleben musste. Wie mir dann geholfen wurde, wieder gesund nach Hause zu kommen. Im dritten Teil geht es um die Zeit nach Äthiopien. Was ich und was mein Umfeld und unsere Gesellschaft getan haben, warum es mir heute gut geht. Jetzt wenn ich das Buch veröffentliche merke ich, dass nicht alles "rund geschrieben" ist. Ich habe mir überlegt, das Buch nochmals zu überarbeiten. Ich habe mich dagegen entschieden. Denn so wie ich das Buch geschrieben habe, so war es genau richtig. Mittlerweile sind viele Gedanken und Gefühle verlagert. Auch habe ich das Buch spät in der Nacht nach der Arbeit geschrieben. So dass nicht immer das Buch rund läuft. Aber es ist für mich richtig und wichtig, was ich geschrieben habe. Wenige Wochen nach dem Überfall hatte ich das Bedürfnis das Buch zu schreiben - daher ist es mir wichtiger, die Gedanken von dieser Zeit wiederzugeben als jetzt das Buch "rund" zu machen.

Relations between Israel and the Gulf states are not anything new. In the immediate aftermath of the 1993 Oslo Accords, both Qatar and Oman established low-level yet open diplomatic ties with Israel. In 2010, Ha'aretz reported that the former Israeli foreign minister, Tzipi Livni, was on friendly terms with Shaykh Abdullah Ibn Zayed, her counterpart from the UAE, despite the absence of formal diplomatic ties between the two states. The shared suspicion towards the regional designs of Iran that undoubtedly underpinned these ties even extended, it was alleged, to a secret dialogue between Israel and Saudi Arabia, led by the late Meir Dagan, the former head of Mossad. Cooperation between Israel and Saudi Arabia in thwarting Iran's regional ambitions also casts light on Washington's lack of strategic leadership, which had previously been the totem around which Israel and the Gulf states had based regional security strategies. Jones and Guzansky contend that, at the very least, ties between Israel and many of its Gulf counterparts are now more vibrant than hitherto realized. They constitute a tacit security regime which, while based on hard power interests, does not preclude competition in other areas. Ultimately, these relations are helping shape a new regional order in the Middle East.
