La creciente diversidad religiosa de nuestras sociedades obliga a revisar críticamente la concepción de los derechos humanos desde una vertiente democrática, inclusiva e intercultural. El presente trabajo aborda la necesidad de acomodar las estructuras en particular a la dereiva de la presencia de personas de religión musulmana. Las reflexiones que aquí se contienen parten no solamente de las informaciones recogidas a través de entrevistas en profundidad realizadas a ciudadanos musulmanes que residen en la Comunidad Autónoma Vasca. La investigación pretende así resaltar la necesidad de revisar críticamente la interpretación que se viene realizando de los derechos humanos en situaciones concretas y señalar ámbitos cotidianos en los que debe reformularse el diseño de lo público para garantizar la plenitud de aquellos derechos también a las personas que profesan la religión islámica.

Religion in Modern Europe examines religion as a form of collective memory. This is a memory held in place by Europe's institutional churches, educational systems, and the mass media - all of which are themselves responding to rapid social and economic change. Europe's religious memory is approached in the following ways: as vicarious-a particularly European characteristic, as precarious-especially among young people, and as it is portrayed by the media. The memory may fragment, be disputed, and in extreme cases, disappear. Alternatives may emerge. The challenge for European societies is to affirm healthy mutations in religious memory and discourage others. The book also examines the increasing diversity of Europe's religious life. In determining who holds power in Argentina, Professor Imaz assembled information on the social backgrounds of political leaders and party workers, military officers, large landowners, managers and owners of industry and commerce, the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church, and officials of labor unions. This considerable amount of data for the years 1936–1961 provides the basis for a comparison of the processes of recruitment and the different social outlooks of the various elites.
