Studies are shown on many aspects of migration, population development, human genetics, archaeology, anthropology, biology, linguistics, and a broad range of genomic studies on migration and cultural and social structures in the past and present. Human migration started in Africa spread to Asia and other regions of our globe and was assessed by studies on ancient and contemporary mtDNA sequencing distributed from the artic to South America. The evolutionary consequences of the settlement of the Aleutian Islands, Samoyedic-speaking populations from Siberia; early human migrations in Gabon Africa, the Republic of Sakha (formerly, Yakutia), African migration to Europe during the twenty-first century, and the Y-chromosome diversity in Aztlan descendants associated with the History of Central Mexico. Human migration influenced by cultural practices was evaluated by biocultural approaches to migration and urbanization in the Peruvian Amazonia, the Ch'orti' Maya Diaspora in Search of Fertile Forests and Political Security. Evidence of human migration in the Puyil Cave (Puxcatán, Tabasco), the Maya and Zoques to the Mountain Region of Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Quintana Too and Yucatan (from linguistic and archaeological perspectives) are also considered. It documented the migration of specific populations in the geographic distribution of diseases such as Dengue, and Mycobacterium. Human Migration : Biocultural Perspective explains human migration as a major contributor to globalization that facilitates gene flow and the exchange of cultures and ideas.

Secrecy and Insurgency deals with the experiences of guerrilla combatants of the Fuerzas Armadas Rebeldes (Rebel Armed Forces) in the aftermath of the peace accords signed in December 1996 between the Guatemalan government and guerrilla insurgents. Drawing on a broad field of contemporary theory, Silvia Posocco’s Secrecy and Insurgency presents a vivid ethnographic account of secrecy as both sociality and a set of knowledge practices. Informed by multi-sited anthropological fieldwork among displaced communities with experiences of militancy in the guerrilla organization Fuerzas Armadas Rebeldes, the book traces the contours of dispersed and intermittent guerrilla social relations, unraveling the gendered dimensions of guerrilla socialities and subjectivities in a local context marked by violence and rapid social change. The chapters chart shifting regimes of governance in the northern departamento of Petén; the inception of violence and insurgency; guerrilla practices of naming and secret relations; moral orders based on sameness and sharing; and forms of relatedness, embodiment, and subjectivity among the combatants. The volume develops new critical idioms for grappling with partiality, perspective, and incompleteness in ethnography and contributes to new thinking on the anthropology of Guatemala. Secrecy and Insurgency will be of interest to social and cultural anthropologists, human geographers, and scholars in Latin American studies, human rights, women’s studies, and gender studies.

Analizando la formación histórica de los circuitos de comercio indígena en Guatemala y de los comerciantes Maya-K'iche's como actores sociopolíticos, esta investigación contribuye a una crítica de las interpretaciones sobre los procesos de cambio social y los problemas del desarrollo formuladas a partir de enfoques conceptuales que equiparan desarrollo con desenvolvimiento capitalista y que leen continuamente la historia de las sociedades del Sur en términos de transición, fracaso y carencia respecto a una versión idealizada de la modernización occidental. Se aporta también a una crítica de las teorías alternativas del desarrollo que formulan concepciones esencialistas de los actores populares y sus territorios, idealizando su diferencia como una otredad alternativa desconectada de relaciones de poder y de dinámicas estructurales. Se señala de esta forma la necesidad de tener en cuenta la complejidad de las identidades, memorias y prácticas de los grupos subalternos, así como la importancia de observar el papel de la desigualdad sociogeográfica y de fenómenos como la militarización y la guerra en la constitución de los problemas del desarrollo.
