The productive operation of machines and facilities is of great economic importance for industrial companies. In order to achieve high productivity, unscheduled production downtimes induced by faults need to be minimized. In this work, an approach for modelbased fault diagnosis of timed concurrent Discrete Event Systems is proposed that can contribute to this aim. The models are automatically determined by timed identification and partitioning. These approaches allow for efficient modeling of large and complex industrial systems with concurrent behavior requiring only little system knowledge. The work explains the theoretical and practical aspects of the presented approaches and gives a detailed evaluation based on a laboratory manufacturing system.

Diagnosis And Fault Tolerant Control written by Mogens Blanke and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-08-11 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Fault-tolerant control aims at a gradual shutdown response in automated systems when faults occur. It satisfies the industrial demand for enhanced availability and safety, in contrast to traditional reactions to faults, which bring about sudden shutdowns and loss of availability. The book presents effective model-based analysis and design methods for fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control. Architectural and structural models are used to analyse the propagation of the fault through the process, to test the fault detectability and to find the redundancies in the process that can be used to ensure fault tolerance. It also introduces design methods suitable for diagnostic systems and fault-tolerant controllers for continuous processes that are described by analytical models of discrete-event systems represented by automata. The book is suitable for engineering students, engineers in industry and researchers who wish to get an overview of the variety of approaches to process diagnosis and fault-tolerant control. The authors have extensive teaching experience with graduate and PhD students, as well as with industrial experts. Parts of this book have been used in courses for this audience. The authors give a comprehensive introduction to the main ideas of diagnosis and fault-tolerant control and present some of their most recent research achievements obtained together with their research groups in a close cooperation with European research projects. The third edition resulted from a major re-structuring and re-writing of the former edition, which has been used for a decade by numerous research groups. New material includes distributed diagnosis of continuous and discrete-event systems, methods for reconfigurability analysis, and extensions of the structural methods towards fault-tolerant control. The bibliographical notes at the end of all chapters have been up-dated. The chapters end with exercises to be used in lectures.

This book focuses on fault diagnosis for linear discrete time-varying (LDTV) systems and its applications in modern engineering processes, with more weighting placed on the development of theory and methodologies. A comprehensive and systematic study on fault diagnosis for LDTV systems is provided, covering H∞-optimization-based fault diagnosis, H∞-filtering-based fault diagnosis, parity space-based fault diagnosis, Krein space technique-aided fault detection and fault estimation, and their typical applications in linear/nonlinear processes such as satellite attitude control systems and INS/GPS systems. This book benefits researchers, engineers, and graduate students in the fields of control engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, instrumentation science, and optoelectronic engineering.

Discrete Event Systems: Diagnosis and Diagnosability addresses the problem of fault diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems (DESs). This book provides the basic techniques and approaches necessary for the design of an efficient fault diagnosis system for a wide range of modern engineering applications. This book classifies the different techniques and approaches according to several criteria such as: modeling tools (Automata, Petri nets, Templates) that is used to construct the model; the information (qualitative based on events occurrences and/or states outputs, quantitative based on signal processing, data analysis) that is needed to analyze and achieve the diagnosis; the decision structure (centralized, decentralized) that is required to achieve the diagnosis; as well as the complexity (polynomial, exponential) of the algorithm that is used to determine the set of faults that the proposed approach is able to diagnose as well as the delay time required for this diagnosis. The goal of this classification is to select the efficient method to achieve the fault diagnosis according to the application constraints. This book will include illustrated examples of the presented methods and techniques as well as a discussion on the application of these methods on several real-world problems.

Fault Detection written by Léa M. Simon and has been published by Nova Science Pub Incorporated this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Fault detection is a subfield of control engineering which concerns itself with monitoring a system, identifying when a fault has occurred and pinpointing the type of fault and its location. Two approaches can be distinguished: a direct pattern recognition of sensor readings that indicate a fault and an analysis of the discrepancy between the sensor readings and expected values. This book reviews research in the field of fault detection including the introduction of an automatic, effective but simpler-to-use system for fault diagnosis in bearings; the monitoring and diagnosis of discrete event systems using time petri nets; fault detection and diagnosis using statistical and soft computing methods.
