Identification Of Special Purpose Structures By Their Fragments Based On Scanning Electron Microscopy written by Viacheslav L. Bogdanov and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-07-03 with Science categories.
This book contains previously classified information on the physical and chemical characteristics of metallic and composite materials used in the production of elements of special-purpose structures, and reveals the set of techniques and tools through which this information was obtained. It sets the foundations for the methodology of systematic automated identification of the special-purpose structures by their fragments. The main topics are theoretical foundations and practical results of scanning electron microscopy in determining chemical composition, structure, surface topography and frequency characteristics (reflection and absorption coefficients of electromagnetic waves) of fragments of the structures made of both metal alloys and composite materials. Applied aspects such as the parameters of electromagnetic radiation recommended for effective identification of special-purpose structures made of composite radiation absorbent materials and coatings; development of a scientifically based system for automated identification of the structures by their fragments. The book is aimed at solving the problem to prevent uncontrolled or "gray" transfer of special-purpose products, technologies and materials of military or dual use by forming a scientifically based automatic identification system (by class and country of origin) of special-purpose products by their fragments, using scanning electron microscopy to determine their chemical composition, structure, surface topography, and frequency characteristics. The book is useful to a wide range of specialists in the field of materials science, as well as specialists in the defense sector of industry.

The Conservation Of Decorated Surfaces On Earthen Architecture written by L. Rrainer (ed.) and has been published by Getty Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Architecture categories.
For millennia, people of all cultures have decorated the surfaces of their domestic, religious, and public buildings. Earthen architecture in particular has been, and continues to be, a common ground for surface decoration such as paintings, sculpted bas-relief, and ornamental plasterwork. This volume explores the complex issues associated with preserving these surfaces. Case studies from Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas are presented. The publication is the result of a colloquium held in 2004 at Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado, co-organized by the Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) and the National Park Service (NPS). The meeting brought together fifty-five conservators, cultural resource managers, materials scientists, engineers, architects, archaeologists, anthropologists, and artists from eleven countries. Divided into four themes--Archaeological Sites, Museum Practice, Historic Buildings, and Living Traditions--the papers examine the conservation of decorated surfaces on earthen architecture within these different contexts.

The Role Of Gut Microbiota In Animal Gastrointestinal Diseases written by Aoyun Li and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-02-11 with Science categories.
As the most complicated and largest microecosystem, gut microbiota is increasingly recognized as a crucial contributor to intestinal homeostasis and host health, which has been demonstrated to function in nutrient absorption, metabolism, immune system maturation, and intestinal mucosal barrier. Notably, gut microbiota could extend their influences beyond the gastrointestinal system, affecting both near and far organ systems such as the brain and liver. Research has demonstrated that gut microbial dysbiosis in animals significantly contributes to various gastrointestinal diseases. For instance, gut microbial dysbiosis could affect intestinal permeability, allowing harmful substances and pathogens to cross the epithelial barrier, and causing intestinal inflammation or diarrhea. Additionally, gut microbiota dysbiosis has also been shown to play a crucial role in the development of inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer. Therefore, it is essential to investigate and understand the gut microbial composition and structure in depth to effectively treat and prevent gastrointestinal diseases in animals. In this Research Topic, we aim to explore the potential relationship between gut microbiome and gastrointestinal-related animal diseases by utilizing a multidisciplinary approach combining multi-omics techniques. We believe that this Research Topic will contribute to improving the understanding of pathogenesis and developing strategies to alleviate and prevent gastrointestinal-related animal diseases from a gut microbial perspective.

Morphine, extracted/isolated from the opium poppy, was the first plant-derived natural product, which was first reported in 1806 and marked as the beginning of plant metabolites research. In the following 200 years, many specific metabolites with significant bio-activity, such as quinine, artemisinin, and paclitaxel, were discovered in plant-derived medicines and have been used for treating human diseases. The extracts of plants or their metabolites have contributed significantly to human health, particularly in the treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity. Nowadays, medicinal plants and their metabolites are increasingly favored by researchers and pharmaceutical companies to be developed as new dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals. Therefore, screening and identification of novel active metabolites or lead compounds from plant-derived medicines for human disease treatment have become a popular research area.

Structure of Dairy Products SOCIETY OF DAIRY TECHNOLOGY SERIES Edited by A. Y. Tamime The Society of Dairy Technology (SDT) has joined with Blackwell Publishing to produce a series of technical dairy-related handbooks providing an invaluable resource for all those involved in the dairy industry; from practitioners to technologists working in both traditional and modern large-scale dairy operations. The previous 30 years have witnessed great interest in the microstructure of dairy products, which has a vital bearing on, e.g. texture, sensory qualities, shelf life and packaging requirements of dairy foods. During the same period, new techniques have been developed to visualise clearly the properties of these products. Hence, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) have been used as complimentary methods in quality appraisal of dairy products, and are used for product development and in trouble shooting wherever faults arise during manufacturing. Structure of Dairy Products, an excellent new addition to the increasingly well-known and respected SDT series, offers the reader: • information of importance in product development and quality control • internationally known contributing authors and book editor • thorough coverage of all major aspects of the subject • core, commercially useful knowledge for the dairy industry Edited by Adnan Tamime, with contributions from international authors, this book is an essential purchase for dairy scientists and technologists, food scientists and technologists, food chemists, physicists, rheologists and microscopists. Libraries in all universities and research establishments teaching and researching in these areas should have copies of this important work on their shelves.
