Il risultato è che queste brevi narrazioni hanno fatto richiamare i nomi di Robert Walser o Raymond Carver.È grazie a un caso del destino, se quelli che lui definisce racconti sono giunti oggi alla pubblicazione.«Descrizione di una giornata qualunque», «Discorsi aziendali», «Le donne del centro», «Centro stomatologico» sono alcune delle ventisette suite memorabili in cui incontriamo passeggeri bizzarri, apparentemente banali o segretamente visionari, talvolta enigmatici – un corteo di creature viventi migrate sulla pagina scritta con esistenze quotidiane e normalissime, fatte di dolore sottile e di piccole illuminazioni, che i romanzispesso trascurano. Giovanni Ubezio sa descriverle con uno stile limpido e potente, intrecciando dialoghi commoventi, folgoranti o esilaranti sullo sfondo di scenari metropolitani. La parola prende forma come se stesse riprendendo un discorso lasciato a metà e, dalla primitiva e suggestiva oralità, si materializza sulla pagina diventando racconto originale e unico. È una narrazione fuori dal tempo, abbandonata agli incontri più incongrui, casuali e sorprendenti, in cui l’episodio e la riflessione appaiono, per poi dissolversi, scomparire.Stupore e turbamento colgono il lettore davanti a questi Prosastücke vertiginosi, davanti all’eccezionalità di una scrittura che sembra non essere mai uscita da un eden privo di colpa, in una lingua innocente eppure precisa e sorprendente. La scrittura scarna, minimale, controllatissima non offre distrazioni o trasfigurazioni, einchioda il lettore alle vicende del taxista e dei suoi personaggi.L’autore di Il cane che mi guardava è dotato di un orecchio assoluto che ascolta i battiti del mondo e avverte i movimenti che un tempo furono delle storie orali e oggi si affidano a questa disincarnata, ordinaria, umana e concretissima narrazione.Uno sguardo puro e avvertitissimo, molto distante dalle logiche e dai meccanismi di qualunque retorica, privo di malizia o ideologia.
