Nella Chiesa occidentale, fin dai primi secoli, l’insegnamento nei seminari si è mosso alla luce del Vangelo di Matteo, considerato Vangelo normativo, mentre i successivi Vangeli di Luca e Giovanni sono stati considerati complementari. Pertanto sono state trascurate, se non ignorate, novità teologico-ecclesiali di portata stravolgente. Gli apostoli non sono dodici ma ottantaquattro. Sono sempre presenti nella vita terrena di Gesù, negli eventi pasquali e post pasquali e nelle prime comunità cristiane. La risurrezione di Gesù non è testimoniata solo da tre donne e undici discepoli, accusati di aver nascosto il corpo di Gesù, tutti carenti di capacità testimoniale ma, da ottantatré apostoli, scelti e designati dal Signore, aventi capacità testimoniale giuridicamente riconosciuta, e da «tutti quelli che erano assidui e concordi nella preghiera, insieme con alcune donne e con Maria, la madre di Gesù e con i fratelli di lui.» Gesù, per quarantacinque giorni, si incontra molte volte con loro, invita tutti a toccarlo, mangia con loro, ricorda come aveva spiegato loro le scritture e afferma: «Di questo voi siete testimoni.» La Madonna, madre dei diaconi, parla con loro, li affida a Gesù che li sceglie suoi collaboratori nel dimostrare agli altri la sua divinità e nell’avviare i discepoli alla fede. Maria è Madre, Donna e Avvocata, dei diaconi, dei presbiteri, dei vescovi, della Chiesa e di tutta l’umanità. I Vangeli sono una miniera, se scavi trovi tesori inestimabili.

Il Concilio Vaticano II è considerato il più rivoluzionario della storia della Chiesa. Per più di venti secoli la versione latina dei vangeli di Girolamo, così detta “Vulgata”, è stata scelta dalla Chiesa quale testo autentico ed ufficiale (Conc. Trid. IV sess. 8 aprile 1546, e Conc. Vat. I, Dei Filius, cap. II, 24 aprile 1870). I padri conciliari hanno avuto il coraggio di mettere in discussione i due predetti decreti disciplinari affermando che «per le traduzioni delle sacre scritture bisogna partire dai testi originali» e che «il magistero non è superiore alla parola di Dio ma la serve… l’ascolta… la custodisce… la espone» (DV 10-12). I padri conciliari hanno riconosciuto che la Vulgata, pur con tutti i suoi pregi, costituisce una chiave di lettura dell’esegeta Girolamo, non «il pensiero dell’agiografo e di ciò che Dio ha voluto trasmettere attraverso di esso». Il testo originale greco, tradotto e riletto alla luce di un diverso idioma, diversa cultura e diverse usanze, non sempre risponde al linguaggio ed al senso dato dall’agiografo e al messaggio dato dal Signore. Nel processo traduttivo intervengono facilmente elementi inquinanti quali: precognizioni di chi traduce, detti e parole del testo originale che non trovano riscontro nella nuova lingua, grammatica e sintassi differenti. La Vulgata non è esente da errori ed elementi inquinanti. Quanto hanno influito il carattere e i preconcetti di Girolamo sul processo traduttivo delle Sacre Scritture?

Argues that affirming the irreducible differences between men and women can lead to more transformative politics than the struggle for abstract equality between the sexes. In The Symbolic Order of the Mother Luisa Muraro identifies the bond between mother and child as ontologically fundamental to the development of culture and politics, and therefore as key to achieving truly emancipatory political change. Both corporeal development and language acquisition, which are the sources of all thinking, begin in this relationship. However, Western civilization has been defined by men, and Muraro recalls the admiration and envy she felt for the great philosophers as she strove to become one herself, as well as the desire for independence that opposed her to her mother. This conflict between philosophy and culture on the one hand and the relationship with the mother on the other constitutes the root of patriarchys symbolic disorder, which blocks womens (and mens) access to genuine freedom. Muraro appeals to the feminist practice of gratitude to the mother and the recognition of her authority as a model of unconditional nurture and support that must be restored. This, she argues, is the symbolic order of the mother that must overcome the disorder of patriarchy. The mediating power of the mother tongue constitutes a symbolic order that comes before all others, for both women and men.
