Per offrire una migliore analisi del problema, l'autore ritiene indispensabile studiare le diverse forme liturgiche o giuridiche della celebrazione del matrimonio nella tradizione occidentale e orientale,evidenziando sia il sacramento sia il ruolo del sacerdote all'interno di esso. Il presente testo svolge un'indagine sulla dottrina del Magistero e sulla teologia per individuare i principi fondamentali del sacramento. Si approfondisce la legislazione vigente della Chiesa espressa nei due codici dove e evidente dedurre che la Chiesa latina qualifica solamente gli sposi come i ministri di grazia a differenza di quelle Orientali dove la figura del ministro e rappresentata dai coniugi e dal sacerdote benedicente. Grzegorz Kadzioch, 1962, ha frequentato la Pontificia Universita Gregoriana dove ha conseguito licenza e dottorato in diritto canonico sotto la direzione di S.E.R. Card. Urbano Navarrete.
